Stay away or take a trip to take a look?

If they are loose the whole wheel could fly off.

You can align it yourself in under 15 minutes with a tape measure. It will be as good as any shop that's ripping you off for $80 to set the toe.
p.s. My tires today, after my DIY alignment 8 years and over 35,000 miles ago. Sharp edges but starting to crack from old age (just like me). 🤫 I need to replace them by Christmas.

I wouldn't necessarily trust myself with this, and would drive myself crazy trying to get it right. But maybe.

Nothing wrong with adapters or JK wheels on a TJ. I've had both with zero issues. Most "tire shops" hire kids that were fired from McDonalds (or crossed the border illegally) today. That's why they don't want the liability. 🤫

I would like to get back to original wheels — or see if I can pick up some aftermarket with the same bolt pattern second-hand. The brakes are definitely new and so the wheels have definitely been off recently. Not sure if seller would have loosened the adapter for any reason, but I will definitely make that part of the overall check. Yes, I don't trust your average tire shop, but one up in Pittsfield, MA does proper alignment and balance for 4x4s that see a lot harder use than this would. Anyone selling any wheels?

Get a "ring of fire" 3rd brake light.

This would of course require the removal of the tattered American flag motif tire cover to reveal the crappy, bald spare... so this might be a later mod. I am thinking the top of the rear crossbar to make it easy to start with. New wheels and a decent spare will definitely help as a base case!

not original but have TJ bolt pattern, I have 4 wheels and tires (Kendra mud terrains, not new) Came on my TJ when I bought it. Drove from Philly to Long Island, no issues. They are yours if you want to make the drive?

Wow seriously? I just might! Thank you for that. I’ll DM you!

Those are so much cooler in any event…

Headed to NY as we speak. 🤫

Ok. So here’s another look at “Mabel” where you can see better the wear on the hood and two drilled holes in the grille. It’s also missing the loop where you’d affix the windshield.

I was thinking to mount some simple fog or accessory lights where those holes in the grille are.

I love the idea a ring of fire, but that’s going to have to wait until I get a nice looking original pattern wheel. Maybe I can even find one to match that set of 4 Cliff has offered me!

So, right now with the 17” JK wheels the Speedo is off by 1.13334x, and the gearing does not feel too fast at all, but wonder if the driving experience will be significantly different with the smaller wheels.

I guess another question is what size tire would I need to use on a 15” rim in order to get the same ride height, or if that’s just a stupid idea.

Oh, and the windshield wiper fluid pump seems dead.

Just a shout out to Cliff, who was gracious enough this weekend to part with the wheels and tires that came with his very clean example.

Will install them in about two weeks and post some pics to share.

Appreciate you all here.

Nice to meet you too! Sorry your buddy had to load them all up by himself when we were BS-ing in the garage by my Jeep...lol

All right, everyone. Since I am procrastinating at the moment, I figured I would upload a few recent shots of Mabel, with Cliff's donated wheels, and new rubber. The idea now is to take it and turn it into a somewhat weathered Jurassic World tribute jeep, taking some cues from this spec of a MB G-Wagon:

The fact that there is a Jurassic Park Motor Pool is no less a discovery than this group here.
