I was inside with the kids, wife & daughter came home to find daughter’s 97 pushed 3/4 of the way into the driveway and a crapton of debris in the street. I never even heard a noise but it must’ve been loud, and dude must’ve been *moving*. Jeep was moves about 11 feet & 3 of the tires got up the curb.

We called the cops, but in the meanwhile my wife went into full Murder She Wrote mode, and found the guilty party 2 streets over. His car was demolished, but thanks in part to the lift on the jeep, we took minimal obvious damage.

Obviously I’ll have it looked at to make sure the frame isn’t torqued, etc. all in all, could’ve been way worse.

I never actually had eyes on it, so I can't say. But that hood scoop does suggest WRX.

The cops knocked on the door, Im sure the parents freaked all the way out. They quickly gave up the perp's contact info and I guess he fessed up right away on the phone. He came back to the house to meet the cops, and I guess they put the fear of God into him. I assumed he was drunk but apparently just looking at his phone and driving way too fast.

@Zorba " it is always the phooooone!!!"...lol Anyway hopefully it is just the milk jug and everything else is is good!

You're pretty much correct. Those fucking things either cause, or grossly exacerbate, the world's troubles everywhere they appear. Oh, and its six letter O, and two letter N: PHOOOOOONNE!! ;) :D

Finally getting around to dealing with this. Progressive wants to total it w/o even looking. Underneath it looks fine, except for the fact that the rear driver spring is completely off the perch. That explains the rake it now has.

See what you can buy it back for if they total it. You might wind up with the Jeep and extra cash if there's no serious damage.

It will have a salvage title however.

Progressive is so stupid about this! They total everything. My last 2 jeep kills I didn’t even make a claim or pay a deductible because jeeps are so cheap they just want to send them off to the scrap yard

On the topic of Jeep kills...

Driving in typical NY bumper to bumper traffic yesterday during rush hour.. left lane, crawling at about 10 - 15 mph. Yahoo in a Dodge Durango forces his way across two lanes, in front of me and then hammers the brakes. Did what I could but it wasn't enough. Plowed the back of the Durango and punched a huge hole in the rear bumper skin, which stayed attached to my MotoBilt stubby when he pulled away from me.

Got off to the side and extricated my TJ from the knuckleheads bumper only to fine absolutely zero damage to the Jeep. Really surprised I didn't crush the KC Gravity LEDs I bought from @Chris but they are perfect.

The other guy was a real douche. Flat out refused to swap information with me. When the police arrived they surveyed the front of the TJ and back of the now bumperless Durango and said to me... "Who makes that bumper? It obviously did it's job.. I want one."

Turns out the douche had just picked up the Durango on 10/06.

Why I pay as little as possible for liability only. My wife folded mine in half. Didn't even get a tow out of the insurance company. But no branded title.

I'd write up your estimate to repair it and send it to them. Tell them to deduct the deductible and send you a check.
