I can't find oil pickup on a 2000 2.5 4-cylinder

Hi new here,
bit of a back story, my new to me jeep blew up after a very short trip home from buying it. I got a replacement engine block that I manged to get into the jeep. When installing the oil pan I noticed the new pump and pickup doesn't fit.

could I get any help finding the oil pickup and screen for my 2.5 4 cyl? The one in the parts guide and at local auto parts dealer doesn't fit. am I looking for something different?

the parts list has part # 5302 0564 and that matches the 361S I found at autozone. however the one I took out of the jeep looks nothing like it.

I super duper don't want to use the original because it's full of what's left of the engine.
 
Rock Auto lists Melling M81A as the correct pump but it doesn't include a pickup tube or screen.

Not 100 percent if you're asking for help locating a pump or the tube and screen.

Does the part you received fit? I'm only asking because I suppose it's possible that a new design superseded the old old one.

It's also possible someone put the wrong part in the box.

the new part doesn't fit and that matched what the pictures show on rockauto/autozone.

I'll swing by the dealership today. it's just weird that the one I have doesn't match up to anything I can find online.

an update to my oil pump problem. the one on the left came off of a 98 2.5l 4 cyl the one on the right came off my 2000 2.5l.
the left one doesn't fit in the oil pan off the 2000's engine. I ended up cleaning the rightmost one to use in the engine swap along with the matching oil pan.

When you have time I'd love more of the story. Sounds like you have a 2000...are you swapping in that 98 motor but retaining your 2000 oil pan?

How did you determine the engine was blown?

Didn't decide to get more complicated with a 4.0 or LS swap?

Hi Mac!
I bought the 2000 jeep and drove it a grand total of 60 miles before the #4 bearing absolutely destroyed itself. (oil pickup has what's left of it in the picture.)
when I got the engine out to see what happened I noticed the #1 barring was getting very very hot. it looks like it's a stock size and the race is worn out causing it to slip.

It looked like the guy who sold it to me patched it together to make it last just long enough to sound good during the test drive.

I managed to find a pretty ok deal on a same size engine from a 98 that was rear ended with very low miles. I want to use the original oil pan so I don't have to remake the exhaust to fit around the sump(?).

Before rebuilding the new engine the most complicated thing I've ever done is an oil change. now I own a torque wrench!

There's not much documentation on the forums for the 2.5...so anything you notice like that oil pan and pickup will help others out in the future.

so far the only other things of note are the engine mounts are different on the 2.5 from the 98 to the 2000 the older are a bit wider but the engine block bolt pattern is the same so keep the old hangers.

the freeze plugs are also a bit more of a problem to find. the two on the back by the crank are 2" the oil freeze plug is 2 3/32
the three larger ones on the side are 1 3/4 and the four smaller I haven't got too yet. the manual has all the incorrect sizes same as the kits from rock auto

I'll keep updating as I find things.
