Not 100%. Will it bolt in, yes. The driveshaft needing replaced all depends on the transmission.Yes.
Check to see what brake setup they have. I’m not sure how interchangeable drums and discs are. If it were mine, I would swap to disc brakes if it didn’t have them already.
Also the driveshaft may need to be shortened unless it has a lot of unused travel. (Might be a good time to consider a double cardan shaft if you have a significant lift or plan to do so.)
so do yall think I should just go the 44 route instead of the ford 8.8 I’ve got a buddy who’s got a 44 out of that 99 for 300 bucks
The 44 will be the easiest swap. The only thing you may have to change is the drive shaft. That will depend on your transmission.so do yall think I should just go the 44 route instead of the ford 8.8 I’ve got a buddy who’s got a 44 out of that 99 for 300 bucks

D35s never came with discs and nothing before 03 ever had discs, so he's dealing with drums to drums regardless unless someone did an aftermarket swap on one or the other.
Regardless, drums and discs are fully interchangeable except for the parking brake cables, hard lines, and axle shaft retention method on D44s (flat plate vs plate with lip).
My 03 Sport came with a Dana 35 rear and disc brakes, when I swapped to a Dana 44 it came with drum brakes but ,my disc brakes were transferred over
Did you buy it new?
No I didnt, the previous owner bought it from the original owner. Original owner bought it and just drove it to the beach and put a lift kit on it with a trans drop and the second owner bought it and he didnt use it at all so he put it up for sale. The original build sheet has the disc brakes from the factory.
