What did you do to your TJ today?

My TJ just developed a front left turn signal issue. Side light stopped working, then front light got dim. They stop working completely when I cut the headlights/parking lights on. Bulbs are fine, sockets are fine, ground wire is clean. Any ideas?
I gave up and drove 80 miles (each way) to get my wife some new wheels for her WJ. Stock ones are stained and the clearcoat is peeling off. She wanted to keep her 16" MT tires, so I found a set of mint condition JK 16" wheels for $125 for 5. Just need a slight cleaning.

Multifunction switch connector housing in the steering column likely fried crispy and the contacts became loose. Fix is to replace the connector and run the headlight power through relays so it doesn't happen again.

Started diagnosing what appears to be a fuel issue. Last week I got a crank no start. I let it sit for awhile, turned the key and it started right up. Shut it off, went to start it right back up and again good crank no start. Waited a while and same thing. Yesterday I sprayed some starting fluid in for the cold start and it sputtered like it wants to go then just goes back to just cranking. I'm gonna give swapping in a new crankshaft position a try.

Some areas in Montana are using salt, too.
It sucks.
Coming from the upper midwest, I enjoy working on 30 or 40 year old rigs that aren't rusted to hell.
That, obviously, is going away.

When you cycle the key to on without cranking it do you hear the fuel pump prime? If it sputters with starting fluid I'm thinking fuel pump. Crankshaft position sensor failure cuts spark, so if that failed you likely wouldn't get any result with starting fluid.

Yeah, I can hear the fuel pump. Don't know if it matters but I can also get fuel to squirt out of the pressure gauge valve on the fuel rail after priming it.

That’s a good sign. If you hit the local parts store you can borrow (rent) a fuel pressure gauge that screws onto that rail valve.

I've had corrosion in a wire near the ground at the front. Think it was for the headlamp level adjuster, but same area.

IF you can determine which of the contacts in the turn signal socket is the ground, you could try wedging a wire in with the bulb and running the wire to a ground.

If the light works normally, the original wire is bad somewhere along it's length .
