Novak Conversions Jeep Wrangler TJ radiator

What did you do to your TJ today?

In my continuing “refreshment” of my new to me TJ I replaced all three of my brake hoses and gravity bled all four corners. I was happy to discover that both my master cylinder and L-R wheel cylinder looked to have been pretty new. Also the brake fluid in there was nice and clear. So at least someone had been doing some maintenance.

I also removed my Rough Country seat covers and happily discovered that all of my upholstery is actually in very good shape.

I forgot to add that while I had it in the air I greased everything. I was disappointed to find my upper ball joints and rear SYE driveshaft were pretty dry. Oh well… everything is happy now.

Finished up the day trying to figure out my tailgate lock mechanism. Some Bubba had bent the tailgate outer skin in order to fit a door latching arm, backwards, to the tailgate lock cylinder and jammed two other unknown latch pieces (Ford, I think) onto it to hold it in place rather than using the proper E-clip. After a bit of shopping I gave up on finding the proper actuator arm so a quick bit of surgery to the wrong arm with an acetylene torch and a drill and it’s suddenly the correct arm! Somewhere in my garage I’ve got a bunch of E-clips but I finally gave up looking for them and ordered a $7.00 assortment from the jungle. Hopefully tomorrow I’ll be able to put the back half of this Jeep back together.

Don’t have another one yet. Looked at 4, all over priced TRASH. One 2002 advertised as exceptional and priced at $17,000!!! I wouldn’t give the owner $7,000 for it😡.
The search continues.

I was Jeep-less for almost four years. I only started looking to get another one a few months ago. The one shocking discovery was that there was absolutely no consistency in pricing. The very first one I looked at was also priced at $17k and looked like it belonged in a junk yard. I ended up paying $9,700 for my ‘99. I probably could have found one in similar condition for a bit less but I was tired of looking at junkers.

At least being in AZ finding rust-free examples is pretty easy. I wish you luck in your search.

Continued my search for a transfer case leak. Dumped about a qrt of pepto out of the fill hole and pulled the transfer case. Everything is dry so I guess I’ll finish draining and put it back together

Has a rogue clunk on right turns up driveway curb cuts.. And an incessant rattle I couldn't find.. Turned out to be the heim joint in the drivers side Zone quick disconnect. Installed a set of JKS.

Also replaced the rear lower CAs.. JKS as well.

The Jeep is back together after yet another transmission/ clutch service. I need to put more miles on it but I think I found the source of the popping and clicking when the clutch is actuated. It would be nice to worry about getting stuck.

Six months after moving to beautiful Georgia from hot and marvelous Texas, I finally got around to actually changing tyhe plugs in my 2006 LJR. Was getting P0303 on and off for about 3 weeks and bought the plugs about 4 months ago. Cancer surgery and radiation put Jeep work on hold. I would not wish that on anyone!
Almost healed, temperature in the 70's and ready to work — could not find the plugs. Bought new plugs, Champion 7304. Had to set the gap on every one. Most were set around .050; changed to .035. Getting the coil pack off was the hardest part of the whole project. My '78 CJ had one vacuum line and 2 heater hoses. This thing has got more pipes, hoses, and wires than I could count. And, that connector on the end! What rocket scientist came up with that?
Eventually got old plugs out - they were the originals and had rusted pretty well to the block. A little penetrating oil took care of that and out they came. Every one of them was at least .050". Number three was almost .070". I don't know how it even sparked. Well, I guess it didn't sometimes, hence the error codes.
Got it all back together and she runs like new. No misses, smooth idle, and no codes. Garage wanted $150 to do this. Only took me four hours.
BTW, getting old sucks (75). I finally have all the tools, but I don't have the energy to use them. I suspect the radiation may have had something to do with that.
Anyway, got 'er done and runs great. Thanks, Everybody!

I was in Atlanta and Dallas this week and I can concur, the weather there was awesome. Glad you got it running right again.
