What did you do to your TJ today?

Day 70. LJ3a is back on all fours after Hp60/shave14b conversion with Clayton 3link/triangulated 4 link and ORIs.

Not done but it’s close. So close. Just Hydro lines and fluid. Muffler, brake lines and bleed. Charge the ORIs, Locktite &torque check everything.

2nd weekend gone and still not done a cooling system flush....had to work this weekend and last weekend was taken up with working on my daughters car...
However, as a way of saying thanks she bought me an old number plate from a flea market...another one to add to my collection.

pressed out the old bearings to use as setup bearings, die grinded ALL of the bearings to where its just a tight slip on fit to the pinion, carrier etc!.....It took me a while but im all setup for tomorrow to begin the regearing process😁......Just needa get new hardware for the axle shafts ! Reinforce the Lca brackets by welding some plate to test how weldable this paint is 🧐

Only the pinion bearing gave me hell when trying to press it out but that's it

Being recently purchased and myself being a Jeep newbie, I sought out a trustworthy mechanic here in town to give it a good work over. The shop came with very high recommendations from a close and trusted friend.

I had the following done to it:
  • rear main seal replaced (was leaking like a sieve)
  • motor mounts replaced
  • throttle body serviced and cleaned
  • all wiring checked, some replaced where insulation had dryrotted.
Parts and labor came to right at $475usd. With this and the new tires, I feel ready to hit the trails up in the big mountains!
Wait, what? You paid $475 and it included replacing the RMS?

AC was feeling weak so added some freon, watched the gauges & took the whole 12 oz can. Showed 35 low side, 235 high side at about 80°. Went for a drive & she was blowing 36° from center vents. Hitting 111° today, just in time!!

I agree pinion could be a fair bit deeper. Might want to start a separate thread though, so your posts don't get spread out and lost in this one.

I can barely see that get some light on it and give us patterns from both sides

And yeah, start a different thread.

Edit: your using too much marking compound. Use just enough to turn it yellow without all the buildup at the root.

Thank you man! That reassurance is what I needed

Drained all 14 ish gallons I had left so the tank won't weigh much when I drop it 😁

-Edit, I'm dropping the tank since im gonna sand down the fuel flow back valve, every now&then when I fuel up I get splashback!
