What did you do to your TJ today?

Bolted the Uniden CB to the remains of the molle rack in my 06 TJ this weekend. Quite happy with how unobtrusive it is up there. May grab a small section of cable organizer tube to hide the wires coming in once I SWR tune the antenna.

The rack does a nice job of keeping the sunshade webbing up.

I mounted my Uniden CB in the same location and loved it - out of the way and I could hear it very well. The downside is the heat coming through the top killed the radio.

After a couple years, my microphone quit working and I discovered the wire insulation inside the outer black sheath was all cracked and the conductors were shorting together. Bought a new mike and kept it in the console until I need it.

Then one day I got in and heard something hit the console. Looked around and found a fuse - the inline fuse holder cracked and the spring shot the fuse out. Repaired that with a new fuse holder.

A while later, turned on the CB and no sound came out of it. I took it apart and found the speaker voice coil was open. Looked around online for a replacement speaker and discovered the 520XL uses a unique size speaker, and speaker + shipping costs almost as much as a new radio.

So my next radio will be mounted somewhere else.

Replaced the blown subwoofer with this one. Pretty easy job. I had to remove some of the subwoofer box ribs and the plastic trim on the back of the speaker for a flush fit. I installed it with red/brown as the positive leads and black/gray as negative. Sounds much better even with the stock amplifier.

I purchased that same sub to replace the factory as well, and ran into the same issue you found. I designed this wedge-shaped adapter ring to avoid modifying the sub box but also allow it to fit in the console enclosure (just).

Refreshed the hood with a proper set of Rubicon decals.
When I replaced mine with a different font, I put one side on slightly crooked. It bugged the crap out of me, so I contacted the company to buy a replacement. They said they had an "installer error guarantee" and shipped me another FULL set free. 🥳

I sanded the ribs down and dynamatted the larger flat areas on the inside and the entire outside to make the walls more rigid. Added four 1/4” nylon spacers between the enclosure and console grill to allow full extension without interference. I’ve been happy with the results.

As it happens, if anyone else find themselves trying to shoehorn the Kicker driver shown above into a stock TJ console subwoofer box, I'm happy to make the print file available for the ring. (y)

I don't have a 3D printer, but if you ever happen to have an extra ring laying around I would be happy to compensate you for it.

Went for a ride this weekend. I installed an anti rock sway bar a few months ago and I tested out the flex. I think I need to adjust the steering stops because at full flex and full turn my tire was rubbing sway bar a little. before this i just rode with my sway bar attached and nothing rubbed. And I know I need to tie up that fog light connector 🤣

Would new fenders help me get a bit more flex? I think without the front and side part of the fender nothing would touch. Basically the lugs could lightly touch the fender turned either way. Also I plan on getting new springs cause my front sags about 1" more than the rear. 3" BDS lift 1" body lift 35s

Shocks are your biggest limitations for axle articulation.

Me too.

RMS got to the point it was making a mess, paid the local jeep shop to change it, and its still leaking. They used the Mopar seal and had the "30yr Chrysler mechanic" do the work. I'm sure they will make good, but they are super backed up, and coming from an Ops/Delivery background, I hate rework.

Well... Phoenix...
Surprised that the entire jeep didn't melt. We get a bit of sun and dry here, but nowhere near the AZ temps.
