What have you towed with your Jeep?

Does this count? No trouble stopping this 😎

I have pulled our 18’ searay further than I care to admit. Pulling it is not the issue, stopping it is a whole other issue. Fortunately I have a 5spd with 4.88’s so I have a little advantage as far as pulling.

Braking was definitely the issue for me. I had no issues towing up big long grades with the turbo. But, braking was not a good time coming down.

Stopping is a bit of extra work for sure! I also don't like how the trailer wants to push the back of the Jeep around - I think that's partially because of the coil spring suspension.

I towed my brother's 6X10 flatbed trailer up a 9% grade to pickup a bedroom dresser for my daughter. I had to laugh , 4 people in the Jeep pulling the empty trailer to get the dresser and I'm in 2nd gear( AX-15 ) on a paved road at 30 m.p.h. for a mile on the 9% grade at 8000' elevation. I would need a self powered trailer if I did that often. Moving a load around in the yard or hood is fine if you are going slow and careful. Anything else .... not so much.

A 5x10 single axle pulls nicely. I’ll say that you need a Black Magic Brakes big brake kit if you’ll be towing anything, especially if you have upsized tires.

I tow a DK2 trailer, it is about a 5x7 trailer, I have the galvanized one. I love the trailer, suits my needs and it super light. Sub 500lbs. But only has about a 1700lb capacity if I remember right. I like the drop gates and the fact it can dump as well. With the TJ I have only hauled camping gear, if you do rendezvous you know it can get heavy lol! The second pic is a stock pic from lowes

About 3000 lbs, electric brakes, Black Magic Brakes on LJ, Air Lift balloons in the rear springs on the Jeep, and I keep the speed at about 60 MPH or less.
And on every trip, I wish the trailer was smaller and lighter or the Jeep was bigger and stronger.
It actually does quite well, but it's slow over mountain passes.
