Hey all. I have a 3 inch bds lift with the 0-3.5 inch forged rough country track bar with drop bracket. SKU 1044. Factory pitman arm. I’m getting conflicting answers on this. Do I need a drop pitman arm? Some say yes some say no since the bar keeps “factory geometry”.

Are you experiencing bump steer? Can't tell from the pics but are your track bar and drag link parallel?

So tbh idk man. Idk if bump steer is an accurate description. It seems a little floaty at 60-65. Maybe vague steering, slight wandering. Tires are brand new, ship inflated them to 40, I lowered to 28. Significant improvement, but issues still there. Albeit minor issues.

Ignore parallel because he won't ever find it. Are the mounting points factory?

If the track bar is lowered at the frame side, then the pitman arm needs to be lowered as well.

This is an all or nothing affair.

I doubt it. The bracket doesn't drop it that much and you don't have an extremely high lift. How tight is the steering box? Wandering is common with Wranglers. The steering box wears and loosens up with time.

NO. You need to remove that drop bracket. One good smack with a hammer should break those welds. ;)
p.s. I bought a Jeep with that RC bracket and a dropped pitman arm. It handled like crap. I removed both of them and all was well again.

There should be a hole drilled on the vertical side and be bolted to the frame. It’s not intended to be welded. I didn’t notice that at first. Assumed it was installed per the manufacturer’s specs. Obviously my assumption was wrong.

I would still park the Jeep on a dry surface and have someone turn the steering wheel from side to side while you look for play. I found play in all kinds of places in my Jeep and everything is now new and tight except for the steering box. Since a new box is $500 ish I just tolerate the play for now. It wanders slightly but nothing too bad.
