Novak Conversions Jeep Wrangler TJ engine mounts

I have an OME 2" lift with 33 BFG R/T's that are really 32.5. I'm thinking about going back to stock with 31's

Anyone go back down to a stock Rubicon height? Is the Rubi different than others? I am wanting to lower my TJ and go back original except I like 31's. Any thoughts on this?

The stock Rubicon model is different from others in many ways. Stock tire size was bigger, 30 inch I believe. You should be fine keeping the 31's. Although as Chris said a mild body lift would be beneficial for 31's.

Any thoughts on why Chris would say that?

Can't speak for Chris, however, a few things come to my mind. A mild body lift gets you a little more room for bigger tires, increased ground clearance is always good, makes some possible future mods such as gas tank tuck possible, it's a bit easier for routine maintenance and all the while allows you to keep the stock suspension (which is were the OP is heading) saving costs of a suspension lift. Also, some think it just looks cool!

The only functional reason to put a small body lift on an otherwise stock Rubicon is because the slightly larger than normal tires will dig into the steel fenders a bit at full suspension articulation. However, this can only be achieved by disconnecting the front antisway bar.

I believe your Jeep would look fine with 31 inch tires as the suspension is . You are planning on running 31's , I would buy a set and run it as is for a while and see if you like it . You can always lower it later .
