Kind of a dumb question for a Jeep, I know, but was just curious. I know it's been shown several times on this forum that a cold air intake doesn't do anything for power or mpg. Does it make the 4.0 sound a little nicer though? Right now I'm stock everything, so I have the stock engine note. Thought it would be cool if I could get more induction sound though, but I know these 4.0s will never actually sound "good". I don't really care for the droneiness of an aftermarket exhaust either.

Look up windstar intake mod if you want to hear the intake more. It is an actual cold air intake compared to the products marketed as such

How the hell did anyone ever come up with that process lol. It is one of those things that you would think nobody would even have any reason to try in the first place. Like the creation of cheese. Who ate milk that sat out for a few months? haha

this will not only make it sound good but also increase you MPG ! not as much as a FRAM oil filter though :ROFLMAO:

There are several good reasons for moving the airbox or pulling in cold air. If you don't know then you aren't doing modifications that require the stock airbox to go away

Yes, test run by unlatching the top of the air filter box…

A nice exhaust helps flow even better and does not need to be loud, link below is my notes and I hear the intake sound better than with the stock exhaust.

I had a mopar air-intake (previous owner installed) and you could hear it if you got on the throttle. I was not a fan of the sound.

Mine (previous owner installed) sounds like $hit and I'm a person who likes the sound of internal combustion that is a little too loud.

Installed a cowel intake that gets actual colder air. It’s loud, sounds like a ricer car on hard acceleration.

Intake temps are down 30-50 deg depending on conditions.

Can climb a steep grade on I-17 10mph faster than before.

You could also cut a motorcycle inner tube and zip tie over your tail pipe. That will make you the envy of the neighborhood. That sounds so cool everybody will look when you drive by.

This works better, Many Honda owners have them. ;)
p.s. Maxwell House sounds best.

The rule of thumb I read was .9 % increase for every 10 degree drop. Like you mentioned it needs to be a getting its air from outside the engine compartment to be a true cold air design. I have mine grabbing air from behind the headlight and hood seem.
