Car pics too cool not to share

That looks like "Anniversary Gold" available on '62 Impalas. Anybody know if that was a factory color for these trucks later on?

I don't know , when I think Anniversary gold , I think 68 trucks .

50th Anniversary in 1968 . Std, RPO color.

Well, I just ran through a quick rabbit hole. I'm very familiar with the '62 Impala being the "50th anniversary" car, but had no idea about '68 being a "50th anniversary, so two very different years. It turns out that Chevrolet was established and introduced the first Chevrolet car in November 1911, so with the '62 MY Impala being out in November of '61, it was given the 50th anniversary treatment. Then in May 1918 Chevrolet did somewhat of a hostile takeover of General Motors, thus the 50th anniversary of 1968.

Just got back from our first trip to Iceland and saw a bunch of these "Super Jeeps"; note the term "Super Jeep" appears to be applied to any vehicle built for snow/glacier runs. I need to do some reading up on these, as about half or so have snorkels and I can't imagine why, except for maybe spring/summer trails?

One thing that stood out - they all run stock axles. Even the big red one with 45"s ran what looked like factory Rubi 44's.

Man, what I would do for a clean, diesel-powered Land Cruiser!

My guess on the snorkel is to get the air intake up & away from the snow that their tires are going to kick up. Put the snorkel up where it's not going to draw in the snow.

Possibly, but why not just keep it under hood like factory? You'll get faster warm-ups (in theory) and none of the ability to suck up snow in a large drift.
