Helped a friend change the ball joints on his TJ today. Also started the camera install on my son-in-laws Jeep. Hope to finish that tomorrow.
This member invited me to a party in Blue Ridge-
Him- “We gonna smoke smoke, we gonna drank, shoot guns, fight, have wild sex....”
Me -“Uh, ok, what time should I get there?”
Him- “It don’t matter, It’s just gonna be us two”

Installed a Rusty's OffRoad radiator skid. Sounds only prudent, and it was cheap enough.
It does beg the question for those who are familiar with this thing: My '06 has rather large elongated holes that are used to bolt the radiator skid in place. However, Rusty's supplied washers were no-where near large enough - the bolts basically dropped right through with a small amount of encouragement - head, washer and all. So do earlier TJs have smaller holes in this location?
In any event, I had some washers in my junk drawer that worked perfectly.
But wait! There's more!
After I had updated my webpage with today's work, I suddenly had a horrifying thought: Were the two "Vice Grips" that I used to hold the top of the skid's mounting bolts still there? I drove the jeep about 3 miles on an errand after I was done working on it.
The Gods and angels watch over fools and drunks, and I don't drink!

Of course, the camera focused on the wrong thing in this grab shot at nite, but there's the one...

and the other!

The bottom one would have been a terrible loss - a "Lever-Wrench". They don't make them anymore. The top one I found under the hood of a '67 Mercedes W110 finback that was in the local junkyard many years ago. Glad they didn't fall off.
Can you post a few more pictures of how this mounts? I have an aluminum Cold Case radiator that is thicker than the OEM. I'd like to get this to protect it, but want to make sure it will fit before I order it.Installed a Rusty's OffRoad radiator skid. Sounds only prudent, and it was cheap enough.

I went nosing about on eBay, there's dozens of them for sale there, so I bought a smaller one. Apparently Craftsman eventually took the design over, and I've seen a picture of a Stanley that appears to be the same idea. In any event, I like them a lot better than the original "Vice-Grip" style - "Stop Screwing Around" was the tagline back in the day, which is a bit of a white lie, you still have to adjust the tension, but its fast and easy by comparison. Highly recommended. The bottom one would have been a terrible loss - a "Lever-Wrench". They don't make them anymore.

I don't know how you made from Huntsville to Blue Ridge in 2 hours for that party, that's normally a 5 hour trip !![]()
Was this a double post??? or did you get invited to 2 parties ? Lol
put the old wobbly jalopy in heated storage last week, for the winter.
Sadly, at 70 YOA, I'm getting to feeble to get in or out of a Jeep
Where did you put your Jeep?![]()
Its in a heated barn/maintenance building in Traverse City MI. I put a Battery Tender on it to keep the battery fully charged.
We Workamp at a campground in Traverse City, The management asked us to return next year ( apparently, they love that I am an expert at Plumbing, electrical, and vehicle maintenance ) so the boss let me put the Jeep in the barn until next year. We will be working from April thru November. Next April its going up for sale.
Then, I think in 2026, we may try an Alaska Run, up through Canada. Not real sure yet? we'll have to see how the economy goes, and hopefully we'll have the funds to try it
I think @TheBoogieman meant the actual address. Knowing it will be left all alone for months gives him plenty of time to come by with a trailer and take that jeep off your hand's.![]()
You'll be pleasantly surprised how the upgraded cables perform. Mine turned over a lot faster and held voltage much better afterwards.
You aren't crazy. The radio does sound cleaner with the cleaner power. Unfortunately the ECM controls the voltage. With a new alternator, my voltage stays between 13.4-13.8. The corroded OEM cables were limiting.I don’t think it’s turning over faster, but I’m convinced the stereo system (amp/sub) sound cleaner
