Hi everyone I am new to this forum. I recently purchased a 2003 Wrangler Rubicon and I am trying to troubleshoot the locking differentials. To start with the 4wd light is not working. I know I have to start here because the locker system needs to know it is in 4wd. I held the trip button while turning key and the light did cycle on during the test. So I know my bulb is good and I am assuming the cluster is good. Next I whent under the jeep and checked the indicator switch. It was unplugged. Tried reconnecrec of course it did not work. Wire seams a little short maybe from the boddy lift? I tried jumping the plug with a paper clip. No luck. I figured maybe the connector was bad from being unplugged so I cut it off with plans to replace it sense it seams short anyway. I striped the wires and put them together. Still no light. I tested with a 12v test light and found one of wires did have power. I jumped from this to the frame and still no light. Does anyone have any ideas of what to try next? Any clue on where these wire go so I can check them at the other end? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for the information. As this is strictly a trail rig I may try the bypass. don't really need a 4wd light if this works.

Here's a drawing I picked up somewhere that provides some nice switch options ...

Nice diagrams. Personally I went with 2 toggle switches so I could pick front, rear or both and not be forced to have the rear on if I want the front.

There must have been a time
when we could have said no.
