Does anyone know what female pin things I need to order to replace a missing wire in the instrument cluster connection?

You need the actual pin that crimps to the end of the wire?

Several years ago I got pins from Pep Boys that I crimped onto some wire (that I added) and inserted into the connector for the power mirrors on my truck so that could add heated mirrors. They were exactly like what was already in there. Since then I’ve seen them at Advance Auto Parts too I think.

Exactly, I will check advance in the morning. The biggest issue is that I am not sure how to pull one of the existing pins for comparison.

There is usually a small tab on the pin that locks it into the plastic connector. There are special tools, but I’ve always used a small scribe or jewelers screwdriver. You just push it in to push the tab down and it slides out.

I don’t know exactly what those pins look like, so this is just an example of what the tab looks like to locks it into the connector.

Ever figure it out?

Yes and no. There was no way to de-pin the connector, there was a plastic piece on the back of the connector that prevented the pins from coming out and once I had a spare and basically destroyed it to get one pin out successfully, the same piece prevented me from adding the pin to the empty slot on my existing connector. Ended up grabbing two XJ connectors from a JY, cutting off my Tjs connector and splicing in one from the XJ that already had the pin I needed. Was not the prettiest solution.

It’s so awful, it makes you want to pull your hair out to find the right one. Sometimes I’ll even go as far as to look in the FSM and find the “Special tool” and look for one similar that I have

My #1 issue with those is that there are 700 depinning tools on the ring, and I have no idea which magic tool is the one for any specific connector. Maybe there is a way to know, but it escapes me.

I found three that worked for 90 percent of what I do I put the rest is a ziplock bag.
