ok so, found out i got a clogged upper cat. i refuse to pay the money for the new ones (Sucks to be canadian when it comes to prices)

have heard a 4.0 with only the last cat and a hushpower muffler and it sounded amazing.

however never had a chance to talk to him.

question for the masters on here, 1) will removing the cats help with the heat soak? (i have the heat shieldkit) 2) if i keep the third cat would i still get a check engine light? if so i assume just a tuner from that thread to get rid of it? or just live with it?

No experience with Canadian emissions laws.

1. Possibly. You're removing a heat source.

2. No check engine light if you install all the O2 sensors (and they're working. That might take welding in bungs. Or yes, HP Tuners, take the emissions class to unlock the feature and do as you please.

I have a 97...IMHO it's the best exhaust. Single manifold...I'm using Banks...to a single downpipe wrapped around the oil pan to one cat beside the transmission and transfer case.

You could buy 97-98 parts and weld in bungs for the extra O2s.

Inline 6 with the right exhaust sounds incredible. however most of the modern world thinks only the LS engine can sound good for some reason (barf)

That is true....I removed all 3 cats on my jeep and it doesn't sound too bad...little raspy but sounds far better than a straight up sewing machine

Interested in how you get the CEL to go away though

i havent done it yet, my buddy who has it used 02 "defoulers" basically an 02 sensor mount that is an elbow. tricks it into thinking its there or something. i used them on a supercharge cobalt back in 2007 and they worked for that.

Ah so like a spacer. I want to do that but being where I am, the sensor and bung have rusted into unity.

Not to derail but those cobalts are stinkin fast...my buddy has one tuned and it'll take a gt3rs off the line
