Just replaced the front grille wiring harness on my 97. When comparing the new harness to the old, I found 2 connectors on my old harness that have never been plugged in. New harness works fine. Just want to know what these could possibly be for. Cheers

Nothing like that on my UK model 97 and it's not something I recognise from the FSM either.
Export models didn't get front fogs or driving lamps so it's possible they were added by a previous owner.
What are the wire colours going to the connectors?

Wires are Brown/yellow, purple/white & black. Below are the harness connectors old vs new.

Old harness which is the Aus version.

New harness that I bought from the US.

Everything is identical except for the single brown/yellow wire that goes to each of these unknown connecters. Must just be apart of the Aus export models.

The Violet/White wire appears to be part of the daytime running lamp circuit and comes from the daytime running lamp module on export models.

OK. Found it. It's not shown in the 97 FSM for some reason but is shown in the 98. I do have those connectors on my 97 I just didn't recognise the shape..

The connectors are for the headlamp levelling motor. You should have a headlamp level switch on the right of the panel below your steering wheel.

If you still have the original export headlamp mounts there should be a module on the rear of the headlamp buckets at the rear of the grill. It has a white knob on the back of it. I don't have any pics of it at the moment.

If you don't have the original export headlamp buckets with adjuster you don't need the wire or plugs. If you don't have them, you are unlikely to find them except on a scrapped TJ. New they were hundreds of dollars even when they were available.

Thats very interesting. I had no idea that export TJs came with levelling headlights.

I have my front grille off at the moment and definitely don't have the motor or the levelling switch on the dash. Jeep probably just kept the wiring on these models even if they didn’t include the motor.
