Hey all. I've made a project for myself where I am currently creating a program that allows me to manage my Jeeps and track maintenance items per vehicle. My goal is to have a proactive approach to keeping up on maintenance on my jeeps to keep them running and reduce time spent reactively fixing them in the garage. I'm in the stages of defining the maintenance items and how often they need to be addressed via mileage. I used the maintenance schedules, but I wanted to see if I am missing anything. I could use some help making this as accurate as possible. If you have any items I am missing or the occurrence is wrong, please let me know. Thanks!

What is the difference between axle fluids and differential oil?

I don't see brake fluid flush.

Just a few other thoughts off the top of my head.
Washer fluid?
Wiper blades?
Brake pad inspection?
Tire rotation?
Check of external lights?
U-joint inspection?

If you’re looking for software to help manage all this, I can recommend Fleetio. I use it to manage a fleet of ~15 trucks and heavy machinery, and it works great for us.

It’s easy to use, there’s space for detailed notes, gives reminders on upcoming maintenance and registration/insurance renewal due dates.

Does oil brand really matter?

It can.

There is a group of us who run PRB (Penzoil Red Bottle) high mileage conventional oil with good results. Some of us also do oil analysis to determine the appropriate oil change interval based on our engine/driving conditions.

I heard PRB is the way to go. I’ve seen people say every 3000 but I also get it’s somewhat subjective.

Looks like I was redundant with the diff/axle fluids.

Good catches, I knew I was missing some obvious ones. I’m sure there are more as well.
 
That’s the suggested oil change replacement frequency. 10W-30 also
That interval is way excessive for most needs and isn't recommended by Jeep. It was Jiffy Lube who first started pushing that stupid-short interval for normal driving situation... they just wanted customers coming in more often. If I have been wheeling in very dirty/dusty conditions I'll go with a shorter interval like that but my normal change interval has been every 5000 miles for over 60 years and I've never had an internal engine problem. Even that is more conservative than what Jeep recommends for most daily driving situations.

The official conservative Jeep recommended oil and filter change interval is only every 6,000 miles unless you've been driving in dusty or dirty conditions. This is right out of the 2004 Owner's Manual.

I had that same table pulled up, I must have put 3,000 in there just from remembering seeing other people say that’s what they did. I agree that 3,000 is way too short of an interval.

Thanks for that explanation, was curious where 3k was coming from. This is why I have trust issues with shops haha.
 
I thought I heard somewhere the 4.0s don't like the iridium plugs 🤔
Our 4.0 loves the correct model iridium plug like the Autolite XP985 which I have run for probably 20 years. Autolike isn't even sure when they will wear out. They examined a set with 200k miles on them under an electron scanning microscope and no wear/erosion at the electrode was detectable.

Once Jerry’s DNA was examined under a microscope- no wear or erosion was detectable. Oddly the chain spelled the word JEEP.

He once won ride of the month....and didn’t even enter.

He once gapped a set of plugs so perfectly they were studied by numerous automotive engineers.

If he drank castor oil, he would have more caster.

The 99 service manual states every 3,000 miles for Schedule B :/

That might be where you got that from.
