Hey, I had 8 gallons of oil. Couldn’t take any chances spilling any inside my LJR.
Somebody had to do it.
The soft lines look better on the TJ than any thing I’ve seen- they look made for it.
One tip is get your orientation correct and make a template with the vent at a copy shop-
I’m thinking of adding drain lines to mine as well- with the proximity to the power distribution box I think it might be a good idea.
Ditched the PO installed K&N CAI system in lieu of stock.
Really didn't anticipate ever doing that. For one, I don't usually do things just because it's what everyone else does, and more importantly, I have literally thousands of hours of operation of a very similar media (pleated fabric) used in another application that not only yields better than stock filtration, but also yields a quantifiable performance gain.
Having said all that, while trying to sort out typical for the era ('05 TJ rubi) drivability issues, I elected to start from a 'known good' and move forward. Removing the CAI to revert to stock, I couldn't believe the amount of 'fuel mud' in the throttle body
. I know how to clean and oil these filters, and I keep an outerwear on it, and still the throttle body and swirl plate were nasty. Needless to say, none of it will go back on.
In the interest of full disclosure, I did see a performance hit removing the swirl plate, which surprised me, since it's just an air valve we're lifting, and we don't depend on venturi for moving fuel... but the loss was really in the realm of stoplight to stoplight acceleration. So not really applicable to the mission of the average jeeper... Interesting none the less.

May make my own thread about this… Got a quote from a very trustworthy and reputable shop for new suspension. Bout my TJ a few months ago and it has just a basic RC lift on it currently. No clue the age or quality of the shocks but essentially wanted to upgrade and get something newer. The shop after a look over recommended a JKS/Teraflex lift kit with new upper and lower control arms, Bilsteins, and a SYE/rear driveshaft kit. The price is the price I’m more so wondering if it’s overkill for daily driving with the occasional (few times a year) wheeling? I have some experience with lifts on trucks but this is a little different to me. Got a lot of trust in the shop to not want to slap a shitty product on the jeep with their name behind it but also don’t want to pay the price of the jeep in a suspension.
You get what you pay for.
IF you are going to daily drive it, then yes it would be worth it. The SYE and adjustable arms will keep you from having vibrations. Good shocks will and the adjustable arms will make the ride much better.
You’re not wrong there. Definitely get what you pay for. Not a daily currently but would love to have it around for a while so eventually I will put money into it. Likely will end up having a further conversation with the shop about my options. Hard to tell how the ride quality is in my jeep. Never been in a lifted TJ prior to mine or really driven anything this old.
Never seen Top Of The World quite like this before. Included a photo of my Toyota days from many years ago.
Tossed in some front JK bilstein 5100’s that I grabbed for $50 new on marketplace today, no more blown out black max. Already had 5100’s in the rear and the ride is much more balanced now.

The weather was decent so I diagnosed a water leak on the passenger's side of Tessie earlier...and discovered it was due to yet another poorly manufactured replacement door seal. It'd be really nice if someone on this planet could properly replicate the factory door seals, particularly now as I also discovered the factory seal on the driver's door has a tear in it and will need to be replaced in the very near future.
Not sure what you're using currently, but I ordered APDTY door seals from Amazon based on some videos and reviews I saw. Crown (what I desperately tried to avoid) showed up. I called and was informed Crown is their supplier for these seals and if I had an issue I could return within 30 days. The Crown seals I got from Quadratec were pure trash and wouldn't even fit. These fit perfectly and haven't leaked a drop so far.
