Need Factory Ignition Table

Some of your Timing your running hotter than I am even. Probably some of that liberty is from the A:W cooler and Meth. Definitely going to help you a lot. What's your Target AFR's?

How the final power numbers you're seeing with the boost you're running? I've been toying with doing a stroker in the future, just dont know if it's needed when I can turn up the psi so would def like to hear from someone who's done both

The aluminum head is hungry for timing as well. I'm targeting 11.8-11.4 depending on RPM and torque load. I currently am only running 7-10 psi until I get it on the dyno again. I was waiting for the weather to cool a bit as well. I have had nothing but problems with the stroker. It's been apart 3 times at this boost. The current parts in the market are junk. I went through 5 crankshafts to find one good useable part. I'm in the process of building a replacement that is a higher compression 4.0. Stock crank with forged pistons and rods at 9.8:1 compression. When the stroker fails again that is what I will run.

why's it been so problematic? What have you been running for internals? and why so high on CR for the next build on boost?

I've always dropped coin on doing things "right" but in the end out longest 4cylinder builds that held together season after season were always the stock re-used good condition parts for cheap from a junk yard. Sucks to say but I've blown many a high dollar setups for dumb reasons like a Supertech inconel valve snapped the head off and took out the motor- when our stock crap always ran and ran fast at the 1/4..

makes me want to stick with AMC parts for crank and head other than Rods/pistons if I do a stroker..

Cheap offshore parts marketed and sold by big brands here in the US. Cranks were my biggest issue. They are almost all bent out of the box. One was over 0.012" TIR from a big parts warehouse company. My other issues were cam bearings and a loose lower timing gear. As for the compression I am trying to get my dynamic up a bit higher to make it more efficient. Out of boost it's still a bit lazy for my taste and the mileage could be better.

So the Jeep tune looks to use a part throttle and WOT base table with a lot of correction tables. The part throttle is same as WOT except for the 1200-3000rpm at 20&25KPA cells (circled in red) which are reduced to 20. I presume this is for engine braking or lean cruise on decel as that is the only time those cells will be hit.

The 2005 and 2006 are a bit different in the high load cells. The 2006 has a little less timing there with a hole in the 1-2K rpm cells (blue shaded cells).

@BigKID

Did you happen to grab the correction factor tables for the stock 05-06 4.0, when you grabbed the ignition timing tables from HP's repository? I'm putting together a base set up for my NA stroker, and figured starting somewhere near stock would be a good idea... but these tables are a little hot without considering correction factors for IAT & CT.

Any direction is appreciated.

Morning Gents,

I've been in search of finding factory ignition timing table for the Jeep 4.0 motor. It's something I haven't been able to come across thus far on line anywhere. I've got the '98 straight 6, Got her turbo'd and had to build a completely new fuel and ignition map from scratch. I've seen some signs of detonation issues and even lost a head gasket from it already which is much better than a ring land.

I'm kinda shooting in the dark here not knowing what the factory maps run for ignition timing. So for the time being we went mad retard on everything to save further damage. Any input in this or if you know a buddy that has the info or a link to an ignition timing table it'd be much appreciated. Likewise if anyone else is turbo'ing their Jeep I'm here for ya.

This is worth a read:

The 2005/2006 NGC3 PCM has many correction tables.
If you already have VCM editor, go to this page and download the stock file:

Thanks Teeza. I am not running HP, therefore do not have the VCM editor. I see the tables screenshoted in the above replies, and most likely will just use a text reader to rebuild them in Excel, from which i can copy/paste to Holley EFI tables after some manual manipulation.

I will certainly read thru the HPTuners NGC tuning article. Always willing to learn a thing or two.

It is worth a look at, I spent a fair bit of time looking at the program and the PCM data before going with it for tuning my 2006 4.0l TJ.
