Novak Conversions Jeep Wrangler TJ engine mounts

What did you do to your TJ today?

Got my 2nd annual vehicle inspection here in Virginia. Went well, except I got failed for my amber fog lights this year. Same lights were on it last year, same shop, different inspector. Went home, took them off, and went back to get reinspected. For the reinspection, I got the inspector that did it last year, and he said I shouldn't have been failed for them. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

common wealth at it finest! I hated the yearly inspection when I lived in Newport News. The DMV sucks, I had to wait for hours to be told that I did not have all the documents required and would have to come back and that is after I called and talked on the phone with someone who told me what all I needed to bring. But my friend got it worse than I did.

We were both stationed in Alaska, He bought a suburban in Alaska. Alaska didn't have sales tax (not sure about now). We both were then stationed at Ft Eustis, Virginia. The DMV there made him pay the sales tax to Virginia on a 4 year old vehicle which he bought out of state before he could register it. I still don't know how that was right as it makes no since to me.

We didn't have any of those issues with Virginia DMV, we'd owned all of our vehicles more than 12 months. But, that personal property tax on our vehicles for Newport News is nearly as much as our DMV fees were in California.

Sometimes, you just lose track of all the bureaucratic BS. I was going to school at Ft. Belvoir, VA; living in College Park, MD; had a Chevy with MO tags (expired); and a NY driver's license (expired). Got stopped by a MD State Trooper (MD State Troopers do not have a sense of humor that they are aware of). He could not believe it. Because I was in the Navy, he gave me one day to fix everything and told me he would be back tomorrow to check. It took me all day, but I got MD tags (and insurance) and a temp MD license by the end of the day. Sure enough, he showed up at my door the next day. I showed him my license and it was all good. I don't remember needing an inspection in MD in 1972. I finished the Army school, parked the Chevy and went to sea for a year.

I finally got through my car inspection. It's street legal now ;o))

I like that it has separate terminals for the fuse and the cables.

Thanks again to everyone who offered constructive criticism! Electrically, it was fine; mechanically, not so much.

I know the cable from the battery to the fuse is smaller, but for such a short length it shouldn't matter. If it does, I'll replace it.

Installed the new winch. For now, it connects straight to the battery as the instructions said to. May add a cut off switch or overload protection in the future.

It definitely made the front end lower. Next modification will be new springs to level it back up some.

I still need to pull the cable out and spool it with a little tension, but I ran out of daylight for today.

Happens over here as well… used to go to a vehicle inspection company for my six month inspections…(that’s all they did and their a chain store kinda place) Every six months it was a roll of the dice With what mods will pass and what won’t…. I get it done by a mechanic now who used to race four-wheel-drive and has had a few jeeps.
No more issues ( touch wood 🪵) lol
