I had to Google that one. Let me know how it works. I can't pull up to traffic lights without bending way down to see the light.
It's the new-skool version of this one

I didn't know that stick on type existed.
Yep basically. This operates on the same principle as a lighthouse light, it's just a stick-on rubbery plastic fresnel lens. I got one for a MINI over 15 years ago and have put them in every car since.

They work.
I've had them on two other cars but couldn't find the one I removed from my bimmer when I sold it after buying the LJ, so had to snag another. I'm 6' 5" and have to move the seat back pretty far in most vehicles, always need to lean forward and crane my neck to see the lights as a result.
I was thinking that’s weird I don’t have a problem seeing traffic lights in my TJ until I read your 6‘ 5”
Being only 5’’ 5” us Hobbits don’t have that problem![]()
I will be ordering one of these magic lenses
Not only does it put my head higher relative to the windshield opening, but because of longer legs, the seat has to move back farther which compounds the issue. At this point in my life, it's just standard operating procedure, but being shorter would have made life a bit easier in many ways. I met a guy once who was 6' 9", can't imagine being another 4" taller. Our world was not designed to suit people much over 6' (if that).
I think you'll come to appreciate it.![]()
Ya'll don't laugh at me. I see some remarkable skills on this site that I admire and respect. I don't have skills remotely like any of that.
I stirred my inner Tim Taylor after replacing my rear washer motor. That motivated to change my plugs, all six of them. The coil rail had always intimidated me but I was feeling spunky.
I got the rail off per this very helpful video. I replaced the plugs per the recommendation of this excellent thread.
The first time I reassembled everything my dash lit up like a Christmas tree. I took that as a sign that I did something wrong. My best guess was that coil rail. I took it off and reinstalled. No Christmas tree this time, but she was running a little rough. I took the rail off again and cleaned it really well with the air compressor and some WD40. I think someone put dielectric grease in the plug boots. It was all hard and crumbly. I took the back plug out just to see how it looked. It looked fine. The first time I was putting it in it was hard to do without getting gunk on it. I had cleaned all the gunk and so it went in clean. I went real slow and put the coil rail back on.
Three times was a charm. I got better with the install each time. She is now running like a sewing machine. It did not really need plugs, but I am sure I am getting about 6.45% more power and almost 9.3% better fuel economy now.
Tessie passed her inaugural emissions test in the People's Republic of Maryland! Good for two years...
