What did you do to your TJ today?

I'm putting the top back on the Jeep in between meetings at work today. This is my first time putting it back on, and it is a pain in the ass. I should probably pull it out of the garage and let it sit in the sun for a bit to soften it up a bit.

Recently removed the boost controller, water/meth injection, and wideband built to handle meth since it won’t be needed. Nice to simplify things a bit now that the jntercooler works so well.

Installed a $20 leather steering wheel cover and surprisingly don’t hate it. Has a nice feel and looks better in person.

That cover is so bougie.

That's the plan.

1. Prop up the transmission
2. Drop the skid plate
3. Spray everything off with brake cleaner
4. Clean up the mess
5. Let it sit like this for a few days
6. See where it is dripping from

I've completed steps 1-4. Now, I just let it sit for a few days.

From the puddle of fluid in the skid plate, the leak appears to be on the passenger side.

Failed the NZ safety inspection today 😞 ( that’ll teach me for going in on Friday the 13th ) lol
Anyway the Upper ball joint had too much play in it they said…lucky the expiration date on my safety sticker is a week away.

Most of the leaking oil is from the front passenger side of the skid plate. It’ll be jacked up on Thursday at the latest.

When the auto transmission in my old 97 was leaking I found roll of paper towels was the best tool… clean the transmission up as good as possible, and then tear off wads of paper towels and stuff them all around the transmission… anywhere that will hold them and then let them sit overnight and the next morning you’ll be able to spot where the leak is coming from…

I finally finished the blue LJ today. Going to new home tomorrow. Honestly, after driving it today, I’m pretty bummed. If I hadn’t just dumped too much money into my LJR, this thing would have been a great starting place for a build.

Installed OEM radio and new speakers, parts I saved from my LJR when I upgraded.

The whole Jeep was covered in something similar to plastidip. And I mean everything. Frame, body panels, mounts… my boys and I have been peeling this stuff off for days.

Installed new BedRug & MotoBilt Drop Down Tailgate.

Removed a 2.5” body lift and transfer case drop. Questioned all my life’s decisions while trying to adjust the transfer case linkage and remove the fuel filler neck from the tank. I wound up breaking the part on the tank it attaches to and had to epoxy it back together. (New owner knows, offered to repair it if it ever becomes a problem).

Installed new rancho Shocks. Changed out the worn 35’s for new 32’ BFG ko2’s. Changed fluids, replaced some trim pieces and cleaned about 5 tons of sand out of this thing.

I need to give it a good wash tomorrow, and it’ll be good to go.
