Random photos: Got anything interesting, unique, strange?

Top of Grays Peak Saturday morning. Glad I got at least one summit this season. Hopefully the weather hold out for another week or two.

The 1st time you ever strap into this car, its lining up in starting order, and find out the siren switch is mounted in the next zip code.

Siren stick to the rescue! Think I dropped it at mile 2 or 3 😅

Well, the much vaunted Witch's Ball has come - and gone, thank Goddess.

Unlike last year's event, this one was - and I quote one of my dance sisters who was there: "A complete shitshow."
It is *apparently* one of those situations where there's not really anyone at fault, unless its the actual venue that appears to have been switched to under duress at the last minute. We didn't get our promised dance space, what we ended up with was about half the size of an already small area that we had practiced for, we were sandwiched between the audience and a pile of rock band equipment, etc, etc, blah, blah, blah. The performance itself went off far better than it had any business doing - "adapt and overcome" - we did it with surprisingly little problem all things considered.

But the worst thing about it was that we were led to believe we had the entire venue exclusively. Nope - the venue allowed "Muggles" in - which is certainly NOT what is wanted with an event like this. A "Charlie Foxtrot" of EPIC proportion.

So - as the saying goes, "I shaved my legs for nothing." - the 3-1/2 hours spent in the beauty salon, the money, the rehearsals, blah, blah, blah - for this "Charlie Juliette". The organizer is reputedly VERY upset as well, as he should be.

Like I told my wife - "You're gonna strike out every once in a while..."

Back view of the updo. Note tiara partly visible in front. The updo was not as high up as I would have preferred, but still a good effort. If I counted the bobby pins correctly when I took them out afterward, there were 49 of them - 17 of which were sprung and ruined for further use so they hit the recycling bin...

Oh, and nails. I didn't do long ones this time, but I did do gel. They'll last about 3 weeks, so I'll have them for a pair of performances coming up in 2!

The driver of a semi truck is reportedly trapped under a collapsed bridge after a BNSF coal-train derailment this afternoon (Sunday, Oct. 15) that has closed Interstate 25, Colorado’s main north-south highway, near Pueblo.

An image from a Colorado State Patrol post on the social media site X, formerly Twitter, shows the train derailed at a bridge crossing I-25 just north of Pueblo, with a truck pinned under the bridge. Colorado Springs television station KKTV is reporting multiple law enforcement and other agencies have responded and rescue efforts are underway.

A BNSF representative said in a statement to Trains News Wire that the derailment occurred about 4:30 p.m. Central time. No injuries to the train crew were reported and the cause is under investigation.

The derailment occurred near highway mile marker 107. The State Patrol says to expect an extended closure because of railcars and coal on the highway.

It is the second derailment of the weekend for BNSF. The railroad indicates in a customer advisory that a train derailed near Aberdeen, S.D., at 10:21 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 14, and that the line was expected to be reopened by 5:30 p.m. CDT today.
