So what’s the torque on the bolts for mating the transfer case end of the driveshaft to a SYE yoke? I can’t seem to find it anywhere.

According to the FSM for a front drive shaft:

(6) Tighten the U-joint strap/clamp bolts at the axle yoke to 19 N·m (14 ft. lbs.) torque.

(7) Tighten the universal joint to transfer case bolts to 27 N·m (20 ft. lbs.) torque.

(8) Lower the vehicle.

I would assume the same for a SYE.

Edited: for clarity

I read in the FSM that the Rubicon flange bolts are 85 ft lbs. seems like a big difference.

The bolts for the driveshaft are 5/16-24

Maybe I just need to call Tom Wood’s Driveshaft and ask them. 🤔

Snug with a ratchet wrench and red loctite has always been the go-to for me. Completely different type of bolts than the Rubicon flange, so you can't use that as a reference.

The front driveshaft might work decently as a reference but getting a torque wrench on there will be interesting.

I just spoke with Troy, at Tom Wood’s, and he agreed that the same torque for the front drive shaft (20 ft lbs) and some loctite should be used for the SYE end for the rear.

I thought 85 ft lbs (for the Rubicon rear flat flange) seemed high and he explained that it used a larger bolt, which I wasn’t aware of.

Thanks for the help. (y)
