    P0344 Code Only

Hey Folks, Looking for some advice. Recently received a code for P0344 and limp mode. Ordered a ThinkDiag2 to check timing and the Cam Crank Difference was at 9.10 degrees but Cam Sync State showed In Sync. I adjusted the ODPA to get within 0.5 and forced a relearn. After some driving, I...

42RLE Issue: P0740 TCC Out of Range

I wanted to provide a quick update - against my better judgement, dropped the transmission, replaced the TC, flushed the cooler and lines and reinstalled. Overall the process was not terrible, just finding time to devote to it was a challenge. I definitely learned a lot, and the process of...

42RLE Issue: P0740 TCC Out of Range

Mark - I swapped in my old PCM this afternoon, and it showed similar symptoms. Also I broke out the mechanics stethoscope and clearly isolated the faint screeching/humming to be coming from the transmission. At times this noise can be extremely audible, but during my test session today it...

42RLE Issue: P0740 TCC Out of Range

@Wranglerfix Hey Mark - I am running one of your PCMs since Summer 2020 (15k miles ago) which addressed the issues I had at that point (nothing trans related).

42RLE Issue: P0740 TCC Out of Range

Hey Folks, Last couple of months the LJ has been pleading for attention by throwing CELs. Started out with a CEL for P0740 (TCC out of Range) and P0841 (Trans Fluid Sensor/Switch A Circuit Range). In one case around the time these CELs came on the trans was refusing to shift into 1st and...

    Work from home LJ

Great start. I decided to go with quick disconnects for the swaybar instead of the Antirock/Swaylock to save some money and justified it in my mind by thinking the onroad manners would be better. Just an option for you to think about. It takes just a couple minutes to disconnect prior to...

Scared to re-gear 42RLE after reading through the "vibration" thread

OP - only one to find out - regear and then start chasing if you have a vibration. I regeared to 5.13s with 33s in Spring 2021 with the 42RLE and its the best thing I have done for overall drivability. I essentially daily the Jeep to keep miles off my car, and that was a PITA prior to the...

Show Me Pics Of Your Silver TJ's Wheels

Not the best pics but I went with a non-gloss black wheel. I really like some gunmetal and silver wheels, but the probability of purchasing wheels that look great online, but not in person on the Jeep goes up significantly IMO so I pressed the easy button and went black.

What gear ratio and lockers should I go with?

513s for the win on 33s - never have to turn off o/d again. Selectable locker of your choice for the rear, but hard to stomach investing the same in the front Dana 30. Any lunchbox will do there just fine and maintain good hwy behavior.

Creating Common Interests—a 2005 LJ Build

No pictures in this update, but the Jeep has returned after a quick stay at East Coast Gears. Here is a quick list of what was done: - 513 gears - Eaton E-Locker in rear - Spartan Lunchbox locker up front - Chromoly front axle shafts - Upgraded to Spicer 5-760 U-joints This probably goes...

    Amp install frustration

Agreed on the PITA install of the amp under the steering column - I lost hours of my life and made up some new languages cursing. I typically test gear before install, but did not this go around - fortunately got lucky and it fired right up.

Creating Common Interests—a 2005 LJ Build

Continuing on the money pit - ordered rock sliders and an engine skid. Decided to give fishbone off-road a try. Had planned to install this past weekend but a cracked radiator got in the way. Tonight decided to tackle one side of the sliders as the boxes were starting to collect dust...

    Screeching noise from engine

Well - replaced the radiator and belt this evening and all is well. Guess the most obvious things are sometimes the answer. All in all the radiator swap is pretty straightforward - only a couple hours from start to finish. The "screeching" noise is no longer present either. I appreciate...

    Screeching noise from engine

Well stay tuned - noticed a giant crack in the top of the radiator and fluid almost out. Assuming the two issues most be related - fluid on the belt or something. Per the advice of other posts - ordered a new mopar radiator and arrived next day. Here’s to hoping for wrapping up early tomorrow...

    Screeching noise from engine

Yea - I may be living on borrowed time. I ordered a mechanics stephoscope. I will work to isolate the noise but it really seems to be more pronounced towards the bottom and back of the engine.
