Power hungry 4.0: how to give it what it wants?

I have the answer for you, but I'm going to have to give it to you in the form of a jumble, because we can't just have everybody jumping on this bandwagon. It will make prices skyrocket due to the sudden demand. It's three words. LIRAFTOFREMIL

2004 4.0 LJ Auto - Fuel Rail Pressure questions.

Very likely I'm going to do the same. I'm sure Glowshift is no Autometer, but for my purposes it's perfectly fine and in some ways better (ie the color changing, whatever, don't @ me). And the reviews were somewhat mixed but I've installed several and am pretty confident that if you secure...

What did you do to your TJ today?

Discovered I may have a thermostat problem. It was around 30F (quite cold for DFW) Saturday morning and even after driving for 30+ minutes the temp gauge never even got to the "2" in 210, normally it sits right on the "1". And my trans temp gauge never even got to 110F. The low trans...

42RLE torque converter clutch noise after service

You should look into what people have to say about that swap. It's basically a downgrade in every imaginable way, other than the cost of replacement, since AW4's are plentiful in the $200 price range. That alone might tell you something.

42RLE torque converter clutch noise after service

rebuilding is a hassle even if you're going to do it yourself, and this is coming from the guy who seeks out such jobs. I would almost certainly try the flush first. Replacing the torque converter is honestly 98% of the hassle. The rebuild job itself is pretty much a cakewalk, the effort...

    32RH Shift Shaft Still Leaking

There is a seal at the pump, where the torque converter snout mates to the pump stator. There is a seal at the shift selector shaft This is true of the 30RH (4cyl) and 32RH (6 cyl). There is no seal at the extension housing because the transfer case has a seal at the input shaft. If you...

42RLE torque converter clutch noise after service

The 42RLE doesn't use any bands, just the 30RH & 32RH. These friction materials are porous, I would not expect OP could ever flush enough, at least in a practical sense, all of the old fluid out. I would expect the clutches have plenty of residue & the TC as well. And if we assume that...

2003 TJ Dana 30 axle guides

If only somebody had told him a week ago (a) that he was overthinking it, (b) how to use a lever to lift the end while guiding it in, and (c) to get a brush to clean out the tube. Wait hang on.....some of that sounds familiar. /homersimpson_bushes.gif

    What Happened?

I have seen exactly that on an XJ. He was having shifting problems anyway, so we just used the told tail housing from mine after I did the SYE. Truthfully I don't know what problems yours would cause in that state. Unless you can get your hands on a new/old tail housing (anyone who did an...

2003 TJ Dana 30 axle guides

So these either spin with the shaft and potentially ride on the inside wall of the axle tube, or they I guess bind up in the tube and then the shafts ride on those bumps? Nothing about this seems like a good idea, but I clearly don't understand the necessity so I'll Homer Simpson right back...
