If he's set on keeping the ARB & not gearing it too deep then YES I agree a 8.8 might be his best bet... And if he's lucky find a 8.8...

He sounds like a great candidate for an 8.8 if a swap is in the future. TJ 44s can be kind of expensive and harder to find but...

I'd definitely go with a Ford 8.8 swap if you're planning a Magnum swap - way stronger than a Dana 35 and tons of gear/locker options...

I had 3.07s ONCE and bought axles from a 4 cylinder TJ with 4.10 gears for around $350 for the pair. Problem solved.
