Soft uppers fitment

I have aluminum doors from JCR and was given soft top upper frames. I bought best top uppers and had to do a little modification. I ran them this morning and they were opening up and rattling while I was going anything over 40. So I came up with this solution and hopefully it helps someone. I used a leather hole punch and silicone ties to tie the corners to the roll bar maybe tedious but it worked.

Might try bungee balls like for a spider web shade for constant tension

Ha, I like it. Yes, mine always pull out a bit at highway speeds.

I guess this will work for anyone with a roll cage. Got any ideas for the rest of us? I was thinking maybe I should actually bend the frame of the soft upper a little bit, so that it would press in more when mounted to the lower half-door.

i had bent it far enough lol I’m sure it’ll still work with stock roll cage I got those silicone ties at harbor freight they’re 2ft long. It’ll reach.

When I had jcr lowers and bestop uppers, I bent them in quite a bit to have some preload there, but never did get them tight enough that they wouldn't pull out at highway speed.

I like this idea though. At the very least, it's way cheaper than fiberglass uppers.

Yeah, I'm not aware of any fiberglass uppers that work with the JCR doors since the mounting pin/rod locations are different.

But I've changed Jeeps since then and don't have the JCRs anymore, and am leaning toward factory to have more freedom in my choice of uppers and a more refined interior.
