Another TJ on 37s thread

Just to clear this up, as Ive read on here alot, cutting your stock ":SHIT" and relocating it is a moron. The factory tin is garbage and should be thrown in the trash once removed.

Finally got around to welding the upper rear contol arm mounts and shock perches. Did this on a fully gutted 44 without knowing exact pinion angle (vehicle sitting) and its now off to powder. Next install 513 and get back ass back on with tires. Bought the metalcloak front bushing and bracket for the 30. Then off to powder. I have the Jeep front and rear diff covers coming then powder body color, polish raised fins and Jeep logo then back to powder to clear. No front 513 yet.

I'd probably go with the Currie/Savvy 4" over the MC. If you want to run 37's then you need to plant another money tree but put it somewhere hidden.

Id imagine that Dana 30 is going to struggle, even as a street vehicle. You may want to swap it out to a 44.

Welcome to the forum. Theres a lot here to research in order to run a lift and tires that big.
There is a guy in Birmingham with a Gray LJ that has a pair of 44 axles for 2500.00, may be on Craigslist. Thinking they are 4:10 Rubi stuff.

Phuc dat at this point. Dealling with the metalcloak Dana 30 front deal now. Cut 3: up? are you kidding me???????? Mutha phuca? Like waht? Dude, this should have been an entire new platform not relying on stock shit, Im disappointed to say the least.

Ifn yall dont mind, tell me about air/hydraulic bump stops please. Ready to buy and before the axle housings come out of powder Id like to install. Only about 16 Corona Premiums in so its light to be typing but it is what it is. Thanks.
Also, I did not truss, wasnt cool with it and I did not sleeve the 30. Whay i see it if these things do become an issue I will buy 60's and roll that route. Yeap, brakes will be an issue again lol.

Conflicting stuff on Dana 44 re-gear setups. I got this Dana 44 (rear) from LKQ so dont what year it is. There is a homemade shim between the pinion gear and bearing. The kit from motive did not come with these shims. Am I correct that I do not need a shim here as I can shim behind the race or just shim before outer bearing on the pinion shaft for setup? And only one oil baffle is used I believe and not this stepped deal the kit came with.

Typical Dana 44 master and minor install kits come with pinion depth shims to go behind the inner pinion bearing race. That large "oil slinger" between the pinion head and inner pinion bearing may or may not work for you in obtaining proper pinion depth. Here's where a setup race and a setup bearing comes into play.

dont know if that`ll work but that `99 has a serpentine setup and the same AC controls as my `99. Ive searched and searched for serpentine conversions, does anyone truly make a kit?

Teraflex s/t front sway installed and hellwig rear sway coming. The Teraflex front sway bushings are tight but getting the "big bar" in was hard. 3 hours shooting HHS and a mall on steel plate to get both ends through. Still waiting on axles.

17' Big brake kit question on Dana 30. The brake dust shield, trim and use as a shim? Doesnt really fit.

You can do that in stock applications. A lot of guys leave them off completely. Seems in this situation they are better left in place and tweaked to fit where needed…(edited for accuracy)…

Is the kit from @mrblaine?

@Chris had a 17" kit on his old jeep so maybe he knows but it was a 44 not a 30
Yes the kit is from him. I cant line it up like its suppose to be. The knuckle is too big for it. And cutting matrial would make it worthless anyway. It would have to be totally reworked if bending it to fit were even an option.

I guess the next question is should I trim it to make just a shim ring and bolt back on or is the thickness not relevant to anyalignment with rotor issue

I'd give @mrblaine a call tomorrow or wait for him to chime in but....

From the photo on his site though it looks like the dust cover was removed.
