Press's LJ-R Woodstock

So, general consensus it they are just too much $$ for what you get. Considering that they start at about 1.75" of spacer, and go up from there... Most people with full lift kits aren't looking for that much spacer. So I get it it, it's a bit of a niche product and they are expensive for what they are. The good part, is nobody had a complaint about what they did. No, I do not plan to adjust them more than the initial setting once I have my base weight determined... And the cost is mostly irrelevant to me.

Yes that seems to be it. As you said they can come in handy if you make future mods that change the stance of your rig then you unscrew the ACOS and adjust until you're happy with how it looks.

The only complaint I've heard for people is that they seized up or couldn't couldn't turn the screw after a few years. I applied anti-seize on the threads of my ACOS and didn't have any issues.

No pictures... I know, how is that possible??? Had a really short window of time to do this and chose to push through it instead of scheduling for another day.

I installed a set of the Select Increments TJ Dash Pods and 4 Skar Audio 5.25 Coax's. Now, this is off of my normal, as a high end audio guy, I usually use upper tier products and would have gone with the Polk's or maybe JBL's for their very high efficiency... More volume at the same power. But the Skar were much less $$ and a TJ dash isn't giving a world class soundstage. Either way, not bad and increased SPL significantly for $30/pr. Clarity is also much better and since I listen to sports or news 90% of time now, I'm happy.

The TJ Dash Pods are a quick and easy way to get HUGE improvements in the front speakers. Put in the Polk DB522 and it's going to actually sound pretty good.

Now to figure out what is the best upgrade for the center console subwoofer... What a piece of crap that design is.

Got the rear bumper today, Fishbone Piranha with Step... After work I headed out to mount her up. Actually a very easy job... pull the factory bumper, remove the back body mounts and a little trimming to them and throw it back together.

IMG_4905.JPG

Packing was nice, heavy duty box with spray foam around the bumper in the box.

IMG_4904.JPG

The bumper itself was wrapped in a rubberized paper type product, very durable.

IMG_4903.JPG

The crinkle powder coating is heavy and perfect, not a mark on it. Probably the best quality I've bought for a Jeep, any Jeep...

IMG_4906.JPG

Had to trim 1/4" off of the body lift to account for the bumper wrapping around the top of the frame rail.

IMG_4907.JPG

Mounted up to the existing holes and had to drill 4 new holes for the other mounting locations.

IMG_4908.JPG

Easier to drill than I expected and all bolts installed and tightened.

Gate closed...

Very nice for a compact and good looking rear bumper. Of course, beauty is in the eye of the beholder....

Another quick fix... As most everyone with a TJ/LJ with the console subwoofer knows, they are toast after a relatively short period of time. As was mine, the foam surround was missing on the bottom 50% of the speaker. I checked around and found a variety of options and reviews where people had success with a variety of replacements. I have already worked up my front and sound bar with basic coax 5.25's and pods in the dash, so it's a simple non audiophile build. I did have a Quadratec gift card and while more expensive than most, their poly cone, rubber surround sub was a plug and play direct replacement. 3 days to ship and about 45 minutes to install and she's back to normal. Sounds decent, not a world beater... Didn't expect it to be. Works as intended and the combination I have is still MUCH better than factory.

Still waiting on Dave's rear geometry brackets, should be here next week. I think I'll do the shocks, 5000X at the same time. Then front bumper and winch. Last for this year will be the free spin hub kit in front. Next year will be a 3 link front setup and anti-rocks... Might go custom similar to Savvy mid. Although the Clayton long seems to get good feedback. Lots to figure out before that step.

Last will be outboarding...

Got the front bumper in and on... Chose a Rough Country 1012 for its simple and compact stubby look with recessed winch. Went right on, lots of fastener choices between the bumper box and the winch mount box. The winch mount plate is very beefy. I mounted the factory driving lights on an existing hole for the time being, I have some smaller LED cubes to go on there when I mount up the winch. Also need to find a decent shackle mount that doesn't break the bank. Still waiting on the rear axle brackets... Hope to see them soon, I am booked for install on the 17th.

If the rear brackets don't make it, I'll probably do the free spin hubs on the 17th....

Awesome yellow LJ ! (y)

My 04 TJ is also named Woodstock... I just got him a couple weeks ago. My original Woodstock was a yellow 01 TJ that I sold in Ohio before moving to AZ.

Looking forward to following your build.

That's a beauty! You know these TJ's aren't "that" old, but Woodstock just seemed to fit... After I bought it, the whole family sat around and we came up with that name.

Wow. I just ordered the brackets. I hope they don’t take that long for me
I ordered mine the last week of January. so we're going on 6 weeks. I've got 3 more business days to get them here or I postpone again... It's been a little frustrating, but EVERYTHING has been more difficult than usual these last 5-6 months, so I'm trying to show patience. I'd like to get the rear out of the way and fully sorted, so I can begin to think about the front. Dave strongly recommends the Savvy mid 3 link for the front to go with the geometry correction in the rear. Was also considering the Clayton long for the front... But I also like the idea of the Genright brackets and have Core4x4 make up the arms for me with JJ's on both ends and doing my own mid. Damn... Gotta stop thinking about that shit until this rear is done and working properly. :ROFLMAO:

WHy not just do the savvy kit for everything? it's a pretty solid kit and do they even sell the front separate from the rear? Are you stilloutboarding at the same time as the arms?

I could have... And there is no question the full Savvy build is excellent. But that didn't work well with the build over time plan that I have...

Plus Dave Kishpaugh has stated in his rear geometry correction thread that "Short arm rear with geometry correction and 3 link mid arm front is about the best we can do running up to 12" travel rear outboards. The only reason for a rear mid arm is to go to 14" travel or you don't already have high dollar adjustable control arms." Which is right in line with my plans. 10" stock location today, I already have high dollar control arms and I only plan to go 12" when I outboard the rear next year. So I won't be missing something "significant".

I'm told Savvy will sell just the front, but I guess I won't know for sure until I try to buy it.

Heard from Dave today, looks like the brackets are shipping today... Probably have them Thursday or Friday. Going to postpone install until next week (hopefully). But now I have to get another opening in Jason's scheduling. Maybe I can get a winch in between now and then...

Found a couple online discount codes, got a winch coming. Hope it works well... ;) Seriously intrigued by the load information shared by the handheld remote.

I ordered the same winch in the 9.5k. I know Smittybilt quality is usually suspect, but I'm hoping it turns out to be a decent winch. It had good reviews and a great price so I took a chance. It's still in the box waiting for my KD Fab bumper to arrive.

I feel good about it... But hey, we'll find out won't we? 😉
