Mismatched Door Club

You motivated me to run a quick FB search. There's a set of black 1/2 doors in great shape for $400. I already have the besttop 2 piece soft doors and full OEM doors. Not sure why I'd need these besides loving the look.
I like the look also, am tempted to get a set for trails. Wife enjoys shutting out the dust, heat and cold where needed.

Finding color matched half doors is like finding a unicorn.

Luckily the first set I found about 5 years ago were bedlined black already. Found a set of silver recently, but one of them needs a little work, no hinges, etc.

The door / hinge doesn’t quite line up. Is the difference 1998 to 2004. Or just randomness. I assume I can find a spacer/ shim to put on the post.

Looks like you just need a mallet to pound that in there a little more. Might help to lube it a bit too.

When I got mine, the doors wouldn't close right. Have to loosen the hinges a bit and adjust the door.

When I got my half doors one of the four hinges didn’t line up. Since I was painting them, I unscrewed it with the door in place until it rested against the body hinge.

The door drop all the way flush at the hinge. When I close it, it runs into the lower door frame. If I lift up 1/4” it closes very nicely

Welcome to the club, enjoy your stay, you may never leave, even though we all say we will paint the doors to match... eventually

How does the lower hinge look?
You more then likely need to loosen things to get things dialed in.
I had no idea that these hinges were even adjustable & only figured it out when I pulled them off to paint the doors, had I known I wouldn’t have taken them off prior to painting because they did fit perfectly already. I also mangled one of the bolts which I ended up just leaving in so that hinge wasn’t removed, turns out it didn't hinder the painting project which is when I realized it wasn't necessary to remove them at all prior to painting. When I went back to reassemble everything I hung them on the Jeep & lined them up perfectly before tightening everything down so the fit is still perfect.

But:

I also learned when I removed the hinges that the metal under the hinge was bare. Assuming that they came from the factory like that it means they’re obviously painted with the hinges on, so if you get a set that doesn’t quite fit right & you loosen the torx bolts to shimmy it around for a better fit you’ll crack the paint where the hinge meets the door and be left with an unpainted strip somewhere that’s been exposed due to the adjustment. Nothing a small tube of touchup paint can’t hide, but reading how particular people are on this thread that’s probably not going to be acceptable to many 😁

Found someone willing to swap a set of full doors for half doors and since this is going to be my DD, I prefer rollable windows. My question is, anyone know the differential on getting these professionally repaired and repainted vs. bedlined? My assumption is the latter is much more affordable but trying to evaluate options. The wrap option seems good too. Passenger side has a little trail rash but the driver door has a hunk that got taken out of it at some point and has been bondo’d.

Picked these up Friday for 275.
I feel like that was high for the condition these are in.
The seller said he had 30 people messaging.
Let me know if it was any of you!

I've decided to bow out of the club, not by painting mine to match but by selling. As much as I like the idea of them, the fact I can't get uppers that match my medium grey soft top is something I can't get by. Oh well... Hope to not take too much of a bath of them.
