Rear Dana 44 Vent Question 2004 Rubicon

Hey Crew,

I'm giving this 2004 Rubicon some much needed attention to the rear diff and cannot find what vent port this is to replace on the back/top of the differential. I've seen an image of a possible curved piece to attach that pipe to.

Yes, the diff is leaking oil from the pinion seal and want to make sure this whole unit is venting properly before replacing the seal and installing a new diff cover.

Any advice or links to remedy is appreciated!

The Dana 44's vent nipple that hose connects to is on top of the the axle tube. The nipple is on top of the hard brake line splitter block.

Jerry, I just found this image which looks to be the part. Again, I'm totally new to working on this area of the jeep and any information is appreciated. If this not a vent, please let me know.

That's where the air line from the 5 psi compressor to power the front axle's locker attaches.

I've been searching online for the proper fix for this before going ahead and opening the rear diff. If anyone has a link to this fix online or an image of the inside/outside placement of this airlock port, please hook me up!

I had the same issue and spent several months trying to purchase that part for a ridiculous $50 price, from three different retailers! They kept saying it was on backorder from the manufacturer and their dates kept slipping. I suspect the part is no longer available. In the end, I canceled the orders and came up with my own solution using 1/8" Swagelok tubing (with compression fittings to form hose-barbs at each end) and a Swagelok 1/8" bored-through 1/16" NPT male connector (part # SS-200-1-1BT). I used a 1/16" NPT tap (McMaster-Carr part # 2652A41) to fit the Swagelok part. Worked well for me and is stainless, so no more rust! FYI - here is what the inside looks like...

That's great! Do you have an image of the piece you made? What was the OEM part/number I could reference? Thanks for paving the road with this for me so I can get back off road!
 
I do not have a photo of the piece I made, but it's just a small section of 1/8" tubing, with a 90 degree bend, barbs added to both ends and a NPT/Swagelok fitting in the middle.

The OEM part is mentioned in the post above: 5083663AB

It's my birthday this week and I'm celebrating by putting a lot of time and money into my TJ. I thank you very much for your input and will definitely becoming an official member here. Having worked in the bike shop world for years, one of my goals was to make the newbies feel welcome regardless of their knowledge about bikes.
