Do 38s fit with no lift? The question nobody asked

One note, the majority of the YT viewer base likes beautiful camera work, bikinis and the content for most is secondary. Look at some of the “lifestyle” channels, the ones who make a living off YouTube.

They make content that sells. Period. Whether that is destroying a 2019 F350 by jumping logs, living on a 700k sail boat, parading pretty women or flat out beautiful camera work, find the thing that sells. Crowd fund. Patreon.

We have to admit, the TJ is popular for the most part because it’s old school (never thought I’d say that) and you have two buyers at this point. The enthusiastic builder who has the means and interest in making a cool off-road rig and the young kid who wants a Jeep cause reasons and has a $8 budget.

I personally like watching technical channels on YouTube and some of them are small time and don’t make the creator money like it used to before the huge change. I also have some fun channels I have on subscription for the pretty camera work, mindless entertainment if you will.

I’m rambling but that is how I see the world of YouTube. I’m 41 btw and I will call it how I see it.
I say I’d go with my gut. Send parts, don’t send parts. If you see benefit from it, just do it. I don’t think you will see any negative out of it. The core base of customers most likely don’t care anything about what a YouTuber does or says.

Fully agree but they aren't doing it for information or training or informing. Its clearly for one purpose, to grow their base and make money on it. Unfortunately, there are less of us and more of them. And I refer to us as those who care about what the effects are from the modifications we choose.
I really doubt they want a piece of shit, I think they just don’t know any better.

Now whistlindiesel in the other hand, he destroys stuff for views.

I think they do want a POS. There not even going to try to re gear stock 4.10 gears for 38’s. He said they like the way it drives with 4.10 gears. What??? Cmon 38’s, stock axles, stock brakes, with a skyjacker lift.
It’s obvious they don’t know any different

Someone told them in the comments they need to regear and he said he wasn’t going to because he likes the way it feels with 4:10 gears so he knows. He also knows not to put 38’s on stock axles because I let him know and others told him to. He still decided to lift it and keep the 38’s.

One would think just from driving it...it sucks with 38’s and those heavy ass wheels!

hell I hate my 33” tires and look forward to both regear and brakes.

They have a video posted Jan 20th saying that 3.73 for 35s is perfectly fine and that as long as you have performance mods like a cold air intake and exhaust system you will make enough power.

At what point do we call their bullshit and they admit they are doing this stuff for attention?

You should go over to their house and give them a ride so they know different.

I just feel bad for their viewers who think he’s doing it right. There going to follow his path and just stick some 38’s with a lift and call it good.

I don't buy that for one second. There is soo much information out there, good information, on how to lift a Jeep "properly" and if you can't afford the top shelf shit, to still lift it properly knowing some trade-offs, for example, Zone 4.25" lift which seems to net decent results without causing issue after issue. I don't think anyone would have batted an eye if they went that route and 35's.

I worked with a guy many years ago with a half ton Chevy with 35's and 3.73's and he said it was a dog on the highway and was gonna re-gear to 4.10. I told him to go with 4.56 or 4.88, he laughed and said "that's waaay too low" his uncle told him 4.10's are perfect. I think some redneck misinformed people just like the way four-ten sounds. Four-ten stump puller gears! Good all the way up to 44's on half ton axles, might as well throw 12 neon shocks on each wheel and get a flattop hair cut and high top Reebok's.

Don’t you think that if everyone followed the good advice and wisdom of the Internet that places like rough country would be out of business?

Yep, let them go break stuff and then do videos on why, that’s education at its finest.

Now that’s something I could get into. NONE of us started out knowing anything and many of us, went through a learning process.
My first TJ was on a 5.5” RE lift and a 1” BL. Had 35’s on it. All done by the PO. I thought it looked cool.
Found out the hard way, 3 speed auto, Dana 30/Dana 35 and 3.07’s. Yikes.

I’d love to see them take that thing out and break the shit hardcore and learn and upgrade taking the audience with them on that journey.

I doubt we will see this. Maybe a cold air intake from air raid. And a thong. I guess a pink one. 😂
