This seems to be unheard of in the jeep community, but I would like to retain the stock suspension height/setup. I believe after 320k and 17 years its on the list to replace.
My question is, what brand would you recommend, and what model or sizes do i need to maintain the stock ride
Thanks in advance

I did this with my YJ 15 years ago. Only Chrysler had stock springs and they wanted $400.00 more for 4 springs than a full Rubicon Express 2" lift cost. I ended up doing the RE lift. Since the leafs I removed had sagged so much, the 2"Lift raised it 4".

I'm thinking about new springs in my TJR so I'll be following this.

The first configuration on mine was Moog coils (3226/3227) and Rancho 5000X shocks. Rode great both on and off road. Nothing wrong with staying at stock height.

Stock height is 12" front, 8" rear, not measuring the spring rubber pad up top.
Thanks for the clarification👍🏻

I only have half your mileage but I’m a stock ride height guy as well and putting Rancho 5000X shocks on my TJ really improved the ride and handling.

Thats 2 for rancho 5000x, not including all the other threads that say ranchos are excellent. Looking good, thanks jeepers!
Will be checking in on this until i get to purchasing them.

Thats how it is with my BMWs but luckily those never remain stock. Not sure why they want more than better aftermarket parts.

I wouldn't use OE parts (you likely wouldn't be able to find them anyways. I'd use some Rancho RS5000X shocks (they make them for 0" of lift) and some stock height springs.

for the springs...I called Moog for springs and their tech department gave me these part numbers: front 3224 rear 3229

I lowered my Jeep down from a Rancho 3.5 down to stock height using Moog springs from rockauto. Funny enough, Moog had two separate designating part numbers for each part. I went with the "Rubicon" labled part numbers. For no reason other than the thought that they might be built just a bit heavier than the standard part number. If I can find the order number, I'll post up what I got.

I found the order. The parts I got from Moog were 3226 and 3227 respectively. Like I said, not sure there was any difference, but they installed easily and ride fine.

Oh, Welcome, BTW!

Man, with all of the lifted TJs here surely you can find some lightly used stockers thru an inmate. I’d at least put out a feeler request in the parts wanted sub forum.
I've got a set you can have for shipping BUT you will lose an inch to sag. When I changed mine the height was 11 & 7 respectively.

The Moog 3226/3227 are spec'd for the Rubicon/auto/ac and have the highest spring rates. I chose them to prevent any sagging in rear when loaded up. With my lighter weight SE, they were a great combo.

I would pass on used springs, especially with the low price of new Moogs. Buying used puts you in the same boat you are now.

As rob has said, ill probably upgrade to all new, usually how my OCD runs me for integral parts like this, plus i have her loaded all the time, use her for work so i always have material and tools, and when i dont work shes loaded with recreational gear
Thanks for the offer though.

Go buy a set of JK rubicon front springs in a 16 on the last 2 of the part number, maybe an inch higher until they sag, most likely less and they can be had for $40 or so. Tim
