Hey all, just got done replacing my clutch. Had everything buttoned up minus skid and the transfer case shift lever and noticed this spring on the ground. I did not see it during tear down. Does anyone recognize it? The only place I can think of is in the transfer case linkage. There is a chance it came out of my toolbox and is unrelated to the Jeep, at least that what I’m hoping.

I'm with LJ and the current president. I have no idea. If it's a TJ part someone will recognize it.

If no one here knows, then this needs to be moved to Off Topic and we can use it as a challenge. Seeing it sitting on the cement I thought it was pretty big. After noticing the leaf, it's not so big, or maybe the leaf is huge. I can definitely say it's not a leaf spring.

That spring goes inside the rubber boot on the shifter bracket on the side of the tub. It is an anti rattle spring.
Thanks Blaine. Now to decide if it goes back in or not.
Binary decision. It is only required if it does something that bothers you. If not, leave it out.
