A Story of Indecision and Frivolous Spending

Man... I have to admit, I'm not a big fan of tube fenders, but I really, really like the look of the GenRight aluminum fenders:

Don't you think this would look cool if the body portion was painted to match the body, but the flare portion was painted black? It would almost look stock, but not.

They'd probably look goofy on my TJ with 5" of lift and only 35" tires though.

I actually really like the look of everything color matched. If you painted the flare black where would you draw the line on the top? There would be a random black line going down the middle

The very fact that you don't have to pull the motor and trany would be reason enough for me to go boosted.

That's one of the reasons I decided to go boosted too! I can do it in my garage over the period of a few days, and that would be pacing myself!

I'm not sure, I would have to come up with a line. I'm not sure how it would look, so maybe I'll do a Photoshop mockup just to see what it might look like.

What would be the gain with those fenders? That outer lip looks thicker than the factory fender.

Wouldn’t look stock at all lol. Prolly will get a 50/50 split on if ppl like them or not. Yes it would look goofy with the amount of space you will have. Just order them lol you know your going to anyway haha

I was thiiiissss close to going with Genright Aluminum hilines. They were 2-300 dollars more than the PS though (inlcuding the inner fender kit).

Looks like if there is an upgrade out there, it's going to end up on this TJ. Good thing the mrs. does not have a Jeep also. We'd feel the whoosh of the money vacuum across the country...:eeeeek:

For some reason I thought they provided more clearance. I think I’m thinking of the highline GenRight fenders. My mistake.

I think you have a good look going with the OEM fenders with enough lift / clearance to properly fit the tires you have on it. I also think GR makes an awesome set of fenders but IMO stay strong with what you got!
Fenders are already on the way...I have a feeling. Wife and kids are going to the in laws also lol

Yeah, I’m not going to actually get them. I’m keeping the stock fenders. The supercharger has drained the funds for a while!

I’ve still got to pay for the labor if installing the mid-arm and RubiCrawler.

While @Chris doesnt have a "need" for them, they are built for taking abuse out on the trails. The other big gain with flat fenders is the fact that you can stretch the front wheelbase and not bash the front tire/wheel combo into the front of the stock fender when flexing.

I cant remember the research but do Genrights move the rear of the fender closer to the firewall like PS does?

What do you guys think? Remove the A/C or keep it?

With the supercharger in stall, I have the option to keep it. However, it definitely makes things more tightly packed in there.

I got to thinking that maybe I should just remove it? I've literally never used it once since I got the vehicle... not once.

I always tell myself, "one day I'll use it", but I'm not sure when that day is? The top and doors literally never stay on during the Summer.

By the way, for anyone interested, here's the supercharger install instructions. Notice how it has the after cooler / heat exchanger, liquid to air cooling, and it's own water pump to power the liquid cooling on the heat exchanger. This thing is seriously bad ass!
