I don't know if this is the right place for this but just have a question. I know the stock size tires for my Wrangler is 245 75r 16. But I just tried on a set of Cooper STT 265 75r 16s (able a to get a really low price on them) I guess my question is if anyone has tried this size on an 06 Rubicon?

From what I can tell online (damn metric system), they'd be around 31.5 inches. The 245's are 31 inches. Should be fine. Not going to cause any major issues that I can think of. But your speedo and odometer will be a tad off. Not something to lose sleep over. I don't know how to decipher width from the metric system, so maybe that is whats different. But they would be fine in terms of height.

Thank you...yeah there doesn't seem to be a problem with height, was just a little worried that I might rub the control arms or something else on the inside. After they were mounted the store guy said they were close but not touching on a full turn These are really great looking tires. Cooper Discoverer STT. I don't do offroad a lot. Just don't want to damage my Rubicon or my new tires.

Thanks...that seems to be what I'm hearing from everybody. Might look like I'm going faster than I really am. Might not be a bad thing. I'll check it with GPS.:cop1:

FYI - here is the formula for converting metric.
265/75/16: 265 x 75 x 2 / 2550 + 16 = 31.6".
For width: 265 / 25.5 = 10.4"

245/65/16's would then be 30.4" and 9.6" wide.

I bought rubicon rims and tires from another Jeeper (2005 rubicon) that were 265/75/16. The rubicon was a stock Jeep. The tires rolled down the highway just fine but you can’t really off-road with them. Not enough room for the tires to travel properly. He also didn’t have any problems turning. I never ran the 265’s on my Jeep as I bought new 245’s but he never had a problem with the 265’s.

Just remember you have an electronically controlled speedometer in the Rubicon, which cant be adjusted with a simple gear change like the non Rubis. Plenty of options out there to correct the speedo, I use the Speedohealer from Blue Monkey. Plug and play to correct the speedometer if you want to.

having run 265/75R16 with stock moab wheels, you'll likely rub at full lock. You'll also want to have some sort of lift if going off road. 2" budget boost would be fine.

I'd recommend a 2" lift or budget boost with those tires to give you plenty of articulation space, I believe @glwood runs that size with a OME lift.

You could also just increase your bump stops, a hockey puck or two in the front works well and adjust the steering stops with 1-2 washers to eliminate the rubbing.

I just had 265/75R16 km3’s put on my stock Rubicon wheels today. They seem fine with no rubbing on the street but needs a 2” lift.
06 LJ Rubicon, all stock so far.
