I'll start with saying this is not a perfect clean Jeep, but the price reflects some of that.

My buddy just went to check it out and here are all the pictures he took. He tried to take a picture of everything bad and he really crawled all over it. (The worst is at the beginning)

There is some rust, and the paint bubbling would require work. I was wondering if you guys would go forward with these pictures being the state. Especially curious from people who don't have the perfect Jeeps (ie not Chris :D)

I have a video walk around too, I'll try and post. I have my opinions just curious on what people think.

Holy shit... that rust is bad.

I say this with all politeness (not intending to be rude at all), but I think you're getting desperate in your search. I wouldn't even consider that one after seeing the frame. Who knows what else it's hiding in the windshield frame, top of the frame, etc.

Take the time and wait it out until a better one shows up. I'm sorry, that rust is not good. If the outside of the frame looks like that, I guarantee the inside does as well.

You're buying a LJR which should be looked at as a potential investment (seriously, they're going up in value). Don't cheap out on one would be my best advice. I think that one has all sorts of nasty surprises in store for you. You don't want that with such a sought after vehicle.

It's also worth noting that someone has painted over a lot of the rust areas on that frame... never a good sign. What's under there might not be pleasant.

It looks like the rust is getting up under the paint as well... never a good thing.

Walk away from that one. Too much rust, especially the frame. You live on the west coast. No reason to buy a Jeep with rust. Keep looking.

Just curious as to whether or not you're set on an LJR, or would a regular LJ fit the bill? I remember you saying you had it bad for an Impact Orange rig. What are they asking for this one? Seems a little rough around the edges to me.

No offense taken, I had come to the same conclusion also, I just felt it valuable to post and ask for other inputs. I'm just very glad I had a friend that was able to check it out, the dealers website sure didn't have those photos up ;)

I'd much prefer a Rubicon at least right now in my search, I think it would save me money on the way I want to build it and it'd hold its value better long term (that sticker is worth its weight!). This is the one in PA so 15k, with high miles and probably too expensive with the state of things.

I'd say my tub looks better than that one but this frame is in better shape than mine, other than that gnarly section by gas tank, that makes me nervous. Those frame drain holes also look like they had some rust bubbling underneath the frame paint. On your current jeep, is every bolt difficult to extract? When I go to work on mine they are always a PITA,. Mine has seen 15 years of Indiana salty winters and I'm sure this one has seen the same.

I think the price would have to be really good in order to take it, is this the one with 150k miles?

Ultimately, If it we're me, I'd keep looking, you got a great TJ to use in the meantime. There will be more impact orange LJs, maybe a dusty (not rusty) one in Texas.

Yep, I think the combination of high miles, paying the transport cost to CA, and the body work I'd want to want to take care of right away makes it really not worth it, even if the rest was in a better state. Right now my bolts are not really difficult, I get a stubborn one every now and then but nothing like this, my TJ is for sure a lot cleaner.

I ask, because if you thought you could accept an Impact Orange LJ, I would be more than happy to look at that one I stumbled across on my way to darling daughter's wedding. Pics, test drive, initial thoughts, as well as haggling, to some extent. But only if you would accept an LJ, and were serious about it. I don't mean a commitment to purchase, but serious in that you actually are looking to buy one, and not just dreaming (which we all do from time to time!). ;) Just let me know...

:) I'm going to pass on that one right now. I think I'll continue to hold out for that rubicon but I really appreciate the offer. If a good LJR in Impact Orange (auto) comes up I am serious to buy, I think like @techster82 said, I'd probably ultimately regret it if I didn't get that Rubicon.

Uh, hell no. Keep looking. You have a pretty specific list so it may take a while. I'm thinking a finders fee of some fine liquor of the finders choice might be in your best interest :D Ya know, just trying to be helpful and all :D

That Jeep is out there. If you will part with 20-25,000 dollars , you can get something nice , even from afar .

Contact Grant Gilbert , Gilbert Jeeps, in Athens , Al, and tell him Andy Gullion sent you , and you want something like I got . He's online and you can e mail via his website.

He hunts em down , and he buys only nice stuff , from individuals , in the rust free south .

Avoid any rust whatsoever if possible .

There is also a place in Georgia that sells mainly Jeeps , and they had an LJ Rubicon I believe . A plane ticket ain't much .

New ones hit the market all the time , still a lot of em in barns , storage , garages ...I see them sitting all over .
