Just finished installing mine... Tie rod only as I did not need to change out the drag link.

Hey i have jeep tj with a RE 5.5 inch lift and wondered if any has done this conversion on there lifted jeep and if so did you have any problems because of the lift.

Just picking this old thread back up. In the original picture, it looks like a good handful of parts are needed. In the really clean photo on the top of the 2nd page, the poster only replaced 3 parts. Anyone have a complete parts list for this upgrade?

I would recommend adding the TJ drag link part number as well (DS1430)
I may be wrong But i used 1430 and I would Strongly Reccomend DS 1310 from MOOG or the original part. 1430 is like a ZJ part and 1310 looks like my TJ steering. It might be the reason why I have a bit of loose steering that was not there with my factory tj steering setup. I am open to being wrong as at the moment my old steering linkage is somewhere else So I can't double check it.
Edit: What I said does not make sense since MOOG says that 1430 is the Original TJ steering drag link.

I want to replace my steering but I can't get over the fact that the uneccessary bend in the tierod looks so dumb on a TJ.
The bend gives you clearance when turning so your draglink doesn't bang your tie rod into the right spring perch.

I've been running this setup for about 3 years and still really liking it. The bend is funny because I sometimes will forget about it and think I've bend it.

I have mine flipped so the tierod is on the upper side of the steering knuckle. Had to relocate the sway bar links but it is nice having that extra clearance. I think the bend helped me from getting some contact on full compression.

@ac_ is right, the ZJ drag link is angled slightly differently. Either will work, I THINK, and I’d say go with the cheaper one, as there is no advantage strength-wise of one over the other. But to be safe, go with the TJ drag link.

EDIT: I am correct. The ZJ and TJ drag link are angled slightly different. However, the only thing that changes is a slight angle on installation of the steering stabilizer. Everything else is the same. YOu can use the ZJ one and save some big bucks. If I recall, it was about half the price of the TJ one. I used the ZJ and saved. Also, you may not neeed a new drag link, just the tie rod ends, so that saves even more

If you go with the TJ drag link aren’t the threads different thickness since the ZJ is beefier?

Working through this now and hit a wall.

Went to install new drag link and the tapered stabilizer bolt won’t fit into the new drag bar. Any suggestions?
