Yea, but then I'd have to deal with a smartphone - and pay for one too. No thank you.
For whatever reason, my flip isn't working here in Egypt - probably because it wasn't purchased from my carrier. It sees the network, connects, blah, blah, but calls won't go through. So I had to us my wife's smartphone instead. WHAT. A. FUCKING. UNMITIGATED. PAIN. IN. THE. ASS. Just using it as a phone is horrid. We went to the pyramids yesterday, wife took a bunch of pix with the thing - which I'm sure turned out fine - but I could take 10 in the time it took her to fiddle with the damn thing, get it unlocked, and I don't know what else - all I know was she kept fiddling and fiddling with the thing. I had her stop walking for a moment so I could take a picture. 1 second later I had taken it. 10 seconds later she asking me when I was going to take the picture. "I already did" - she's now so used to the sub-standard PHOOOOOONNE experience, that its now normal and she doesn't think anything of it. Sigh...
These people here are as poor as church mice - but just like in the states, they all have that PHOOOOOONNE and expensive data plan. Phone zombies everywhere. At least the children here don't have them. My smartphone addled daughter is FINALLY retroactively listening to me and busting our granddaughter down to a flip - she has finally gotten a mouthful of all the fucking problems the damn thing is causing. A kid needs a cell phone like a fish needs a bicycle, much less a smartphone, but at least its now a flip and its about FUCKING TIME. I told her, and told her, and told her; but she considers them oh-so-essential. Whatever.
Oh, and its probably full of bugs, a pain in the ass to use, and spies on me. Uh-huh.

While waking up this morning, I interrupted my subconscious brain playing a car game in the same vein as those of a car-related podcast I frequently follow. Every episode, a fictitious car buying situation (often submitted by subscribers) is presented to the four members of the group, typically they need to purchase 1-2 vehicles for specified uses with a limited budget. Interesting game to play with your friends if they're car nerds, surely you mooks know some... 
Anyway, I recall the situation having something to do with selecting one vehicle for on-pavement use, great for long distance speed and comfort, but also good for day to day driving and a little fun. A good all-rounder, if you will, don't recall the budget. How this transferred from unconscious to conscious world, I do not know (never recall dreams anymore), but I definitely recall my choice as I awoke...the MB C126, preferable the 560SEC w/manual gearbox. Quite possibly one of the last production cars made anywhere in true American two door "hardtop" configuration, a favorite style of mine since long before I could drive.
I still think these cars are really sharp, essentially true of anything Bruno laid hands on. They're of an era, for sure, yet they have a timeless feel. They don't look necessarily "old", yet they are by production year alone. MB had very solid build quality around this time. I started my body shop life at a Mercedes Benz dealer, the overall quality and differences in how things were designed relative to other cars of the time was quite remarkable to me. Test driving them after a repair always felt special and I recall every one of them smelling the same inside, it was the smell of quality....though it was likely just down to their choice of peeled cow for the interior.

That burgundy one is sharp! And looky that...are those Washington plates?
I had to include that one, most are some variety of white, silver, gray or black (standard German car color spectrum
). Nice to see something different, and I agree. I would not be ashamed to be seen in that car.

560SEC with a manual ! , looks good at the front clip , but the rear quarter window / C-pillar look wrong to me . Reminiscent of an Audi quattro coupe , almost nice looking , however Germans seem to want to make them look like a 4 dr sedan with the rear doors welded in . The Germans can build a sweet coupe like a Porsche 930 Turbo , So In my opinion , Benz and Audi were just phoning in the coupe effort. Kinda fun to BS about cars none of us have !

For the record, I had no issues evacuating my colon today whatsoever. I did, however, have issues shifting the payload beyond the receiving yard for quite a few hours. Squib.
