Well, this wasn't in the plan for today. My wife and I have decided that we are going to add a truck camper to our life which meant we need a bigger truck. After looking at what we expect to haul and tow, we decided that a 1-ton dually made the most sense.

Then today, my wife shows me a truck that seems to check all of our boxes and then some. A couple hours later, I go home with a pearl white, 2019 F350 Platinum Ultimate dually. It's a 6.7 Power Stroke with 44k miles and already has truck camper mounts and air bags. The dealer had put new tires on the rear and I managed to get them to include matching tires for the front as well as an extra key, a full tank, and some repair on a little corrosion on the rear wheels. It's a 1-owner, local truck. It's got everything I think you could possibly get on a truck in 2019, including massaging seats which my wife is very excited for!

Now time to sell my other truck and recoup a little money.

Congrats! You’ll love the 6.7! I have a 110k trouble free miles with nothing but smiles on my 2020!

Edit: if you do your own maintenance, you’ll want to give the engineer that designed it a hug. First truck I’ve owned where the oil filter isn’t located above something else and you can drain all fluids without making a mess. Normal maintenance is a breeze!

I hope you enjoy it as much as we enjoy out F-250!

Yes, I'll do my own basic maintenance like fluid and filter changes. That's good to hear, my current Ram 1500 goes all over the steering rack and cross member 😑

Thanks, we're really excited!

Thanks, we're really excited!

My step daughter has the same truck and it pisses me off to no end every time I change the oil on it! Yet, every year for her birthday I continue to give her free oil changes for the year. I guess I’m a glutton for punishment.

Congrats on the new rig....

Thanks, we've been tossing around the idea for a while and decided that we were ready to go for it. Though I was expecting to shop for a bit lol we're also going to eventually add a bigger trailer and there will be a second something behind the Jeep for my son. We're working on figuring that part out right now, but excited to jump into this. My wife just immediately fell in love with being out in the Jeep and is super excited to get out and explore new/further places for years to come.

What sort of camper are you thinking about?

We were initially looking at an Adventurer 80RB Overland. We looked at it yesterday and learned that apparently you can't put dually brackets on them. The dealer was saying that it's the only camper on his lot that has brackets in that orientation and they don't work. I've also reached out to the manufacturer to find out for sure.

Otherwise we're looking at a Wolf Creek 850, which is almost the same as the 80RB but slightly larger.

We want something with little to no overhang, light-ish, and doesn't interfere with the hitch too much so we can tow without an extension.

I see it’s a Fx4 does it have a rear locker? I have a 18 F250 Fx4 and the rear locker has come in handy especially pulling a trailer up steep un improved roads.
If you don’t mind me asking what did it set you back?

It is an FX4 but doesn't have a locker. It does have the LSD though. I at least wanted the LSD for those type of situations.

I'll PM you

These would need a short extension but based on where you live IMO it's a better option for a camper.

We talked to the salesman about the 9-6 and it's just a little too much overhang with the damn step/platform they put on the back. It's huge. And they make it integral to the camper and it can't be removed.

It's also quite a bit more expensive.

I've been talking to a guy with the Wolf Creek 850 that used it in Alaska for 7 years before moving to Oregon and has been really happy with it.
