MANDEVILLE, La. — Court records show the man who was shot and killed in a Mandeville neighborhood earlier this week had a history of domestic violence, including two misdemeanor convictions just months before the fatal incident.
St. Tammany Parish sheriff’s deputies responded around 3 a.m. Monday to a home in the Greenleaves subdivision, where they found a woman suffering from stab wounds and a man dead from gunshot wounds in the front yard.

The sheriff’s office said the man, identified as Shawn Quinn, attacked the woman with a knife. Authorities said a neighbor shot Quinn during the incident. As of Wednesday, no charges have been filed.
Court documents show that during a December hearing, Quinn pleaded guilty to misdemeanor battery of a dating partner and misdemeanor domestic abuse battery for incidents that took place in June and September. He was sentenced to two years probation.
Advocates say repeated domestic violence incidents can escalate when offenders are not held fully accountable.
“If a domestic violence offender is not held appropriately accountable for earlier incidents, we often see that behavior escalate over time,” said Mariah Wineski, executive director of the Louisiana Coalition Against Domestic Violence. “That’s when we end up with homicides and self-defense killings.”

The St. Tammany Parish District Attorney’s Office declined to comment on the case.

The system is too damn light on this kind of stuff. Quinn should've been behind bars.

Yeah, well now he's dead.

We know that he won't be committing any more domestic battery assaults.

In the clown world we live in, the girl he stabbed will now press charges aginst the homeowner who shot him.

Her: "Oh those were just love stabs. He didn't mean to hurt me"

Wish we could say that wasn't even a remote possibility, but we all know better. Probably a good provider to the baby-momma and their three kids, too...

While I do get where you're coming from in general, in this case I think she can actually be heard on the video yelling at the guy to shoot him. But you never know...

So, WTF was he yelling? Anybody understand what he was saying? I don't have the stomach to go back and rewatch it...

I believe he was repeating things she said to him or called him previously as he was stabbing away. What I'm most miffed about is the other dude that just stands there. Kick the attacker in the head, grab a garden gnome and shove it in his ear, do something FFS....he's attempting to kill another human in front of you. When did everyone become so helpless and clueless?

The world has always had substantially more sheep than sheep dogs.

Nowadays it's almost surprising he didn't pull out his phone and record it while taking a selfie.
