Anybody up for a random meme dump?

When you see a 30 inch lam bean in a house you’re looking at some very deliberate load planning-

Those idiots cannot imagine what it took to design a fit for that

We had a company deliver a couple of pallets of tile and they brought it into the house and set it in the middle of the living room floor-

The next morning it was in the basement .

Back on track if you ever seen one of those laminated beams, and you’re involved in a conversation about some kind of modification to it- just walk away

We moved into a house with a large (40x25') living/rec/great room that's about 40yrs old. Floor in the middle of the room is down about 2-3 in. Over a crawl space. I was thinking about using a lam beam and some posts to level the floor. Bad idea? Why? Thanks

Dang her headlights are bigger than the ones on her Bronco......

Not at all - lam beams are ideal- the ability to carry a load and the appropriate spans, is where the sizing comes in -

Also, the post will be factored into the sizing

Your formula is going to be something like the total distance of the beam

The distance of the incoming floor, assuming this thing is going to act like a girder… so how much load is coming in perpendicular

Then you have your post plan - each post sits on footing depth concrete ideally

A designer will take all these things and factor them in.

That beam supported a big mezzanine that supported 3 bedrooms and a full bath plus a large reading area . The house was cool and had high vaulted ceilings .
I was a 16 year old kid working for our neighbor who was a plumber.

No desire for Instagram.

Or FB.

Still trying to purge Google from my life but that's more difficult.
Good for you - I've never been on any of the so called "social media" sites, and don't intend to be. I have them blocked from my computer, and I even have FB blocked from linking to my website. Not that I have strong feelings on the subject... ;) :D
