D. All of the above.

That particular one looked like someone went to strip some wire out of it and caused an electrical short.

But who knows. It's all trash to me and it's all gotta go...

Where do you seem to find all this crap all the time

Simple. Find the first couple of isolated roads out of town. That's where 90 percent of the illegal dumping happens.

Also the nearest roads to our rural transfer stations.

Lots of public lands in Oregon abutting our towns. So unfortunately all of those places are are public lands.

I sure hope your neighbors appreciate all of your efforts. 😇

I am assuming that you just scrape these out ? how do handle any legal issues with title or are there any ?

Most of our neighbors are supportive...a few volunteer occasionally. I mostly record everything to raise awareness of the illegal dumping and camping problems on our public lands and hope that it will contribute to meaningful dialogue, real solutions and equitable change to solve the many problems.

Right now the Forest Service law enforcement gives us a form saying we have authority to tow the vehicle...at least for the few of them that have legible VIN tags. Most of these are burned or the tag was deliberately removed...and as such they're no longer legally vehicles...just large trash/scrap metal. There's probably going to be a legal mess at some point. A Forest Service supervisor said we were doing towing wrong and needed to hold vehicles in a publicly accessible yard with posted and staffed hours. Our argument is they've usually sat in the woods for months. So far the scrap yard and the Forest Service are willing to be flexible.

All it would take would be a sign that says "All vehicles abandoned longer than xxx, become Forest Service property."

Well that and a policy document signed by the ranger in charge of said forest.

Our head ranger never resigned the 14 day limit on camping policy in the Willamette National Forest so law enforcement couldn't ticket folks for overstaying the limit. We called them out on this and they got it reinstated. It's a memo they have to republish regularlly.

Thank you for helping to clean public lands.

You must not have any salvage yards nearby. Local to me (within an hour) are several. Minimum price paid is $250 if you can drive it in, less if they have to pick it up.

I recycled a motorcycle and they paid $40.

We use Staton Metal Recycling. Mostly because they're right off I-5 next to Short Mountain our landfill. The rest of the yards are in west Eugene and that's a 30 to 45 minute journey through traffic in an unplated dump trailer.

99 percent of these are either burned or lived in.

I started carrying a tyvek suit, gloves and a respirator with my junkyard kit. A lot of vehicles in salvage yards are pretty contaminated.

The only junk cars around here are sitting in front of the double wides. They won’t even sell you the nice ones like this one Jeep I have my eyes on down the road. Gonna fix it some day they say. 😢

Love that you do this for us all Mac. Thank you. It is classic that there is admin hassle that volunteers doing this sort of thing get saddled with:rolleyes:

Same thing here in Kentucky. My dad who moved here from New Jersey as he was stationed at Fort Knox called it Kentucky wealth 😂

@John Cooper knows what I’m talking about

Yes i do!!!! Been looking at the first TJ I ever owned.

1999 model that's been sitting since 2015. The guy who bought it from me in 2013 doesn't know whats wrong with it, but he still won't sell it.

Another person has a 80's model CJ7, it's supposed to run, but not for sale and hasn't moved in years.

Makes me sick and sad to see Jeeps just parked and not sold, folks have good intentions, but good intentions don't get Jeeps running.

2 breaks 1 trip! Just how worn is that rope? Close-up pics?

Steel is much tougher and will last longer for this type of work, but it's not as nice to work with. I have the warn cable that came with my winch, completely unused. It's yours if you want it.

Bought the rope May 21st 2021.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B08PSZ95TL?tag=wranglerorg-20

It was on my Warn 8000 on my Jeep, then moved to my 9.5xp. And retired to the dump trailer when I replaced my Jeep winch rope with a Black Magic Brakes one two years ago.

Since then the pink Barbie Jeep rope has hauled well over 50 cars, dozens of cut up RVs into my dump trailer. It's been abraided and abused. Now replaced with a Wizard Recovery Gear rope.
