Could use a little help

After I drill and flush the inside of the frame out, what can I put inside the frame to stop the rust that I did find? I there any type of rust-oleum for that?

So I found a head today (TUPY). It wasn't on the original 2002 that I went there for but he had another 2002 that did have the good head on it. The downside is the 2002 that does not have the TUPY head only has 105k miles...the 2002 motor with the TUPY head has around 180k miles. The upside is, he said he would sell me the head for $100 and throw in the block with it, he just wants everything else off of it. Now I have to tear mine apart asap and identify the rattle or issues before deciding to change the block out. The guy apparently swaps out frames and anything else, he has the lift for it and some jeeps there that he swapped the frames out on. He said he would swap out my motor for $750 and I feel like that's a great price. He mentioned that he lifts the bodies off the frame to swap the motors out. Thoughts? Should I go with the higher mileage head and possible block? I looked at the oil on the dipstick and it looked good, didn't smell burnt. Is lifting the body a good way to swap the motor out?

And is it possible to get an accurate compression test by spinning the crank with a tool?

No, but if it is coil-on-plug (idk when that started) you can check for some compression by seeing if it'll pop the coils off

Otherwise old boomers will jam their finger in the spark plug and feel for it

Don't you have a painter on your crew ? I bet he could paint yours with a couple of spray cans 🤪 🤪 🤪

His finger gets tired

True story, sort of retarded, inbred person that used to come into a service station that I worked at.

Painted his entire car… including the interior.

Wow Robert, you really went all the way didn’t you?

I didn't even think to look at that

I have no idea why someone would pull the body off to swap the motor out. I just did mine and its not bad. The worst part was getting the stupid electrical connectors disconnected without breaking them. Gonna have to get one of those tools to help with that next time. Now, the one i did was an auto, so the motor can come almost straight up once the torque converter is unbolted. it only has to come forward enough to get it off the pins from motor to bellhousing. A standard trans will have to come forward quite a bit more to unstab the clutch, and there's not a lot of room to come forward. I'll let others weigh in here who have motor swapped the standard transmissions, but you may have to move the grill outta the way, or pull the transmission out first.

Pull the front clip or at a minimum the core support/grille . It will give you enough room .

Good to know. I'll be glad when this part of owning a jeep a over lol I just wanna ride

When I look on car-part.com at engines for sale, in the descpition they have that the letter "S" is the 8th digit in the VIN. Mine has an "S" as the 8th digit also but I have seen on that site where some of them have a different letter like "A" maybe. Should I be making sure that the engine I get came from a jeep with the letter "S" for some reason?
