I have been trying to figure out an oil leak coming from the inside of my distributor. I have tried 2 different new distributors and I read it could be because of too much crankcase pressure caused by leaking piston rings or valves or plugged crankcase vent on the valve cover I ruled out the Ccv by first cleaning and then went as far as installing a catch can with a filter setup to relieve as much pressure as possible and still didn’t help the leak issue So now I did a compression test using a Mac tools compression tester when motor was warm I’ll post a picture of the results. I’m wondering if the compression numbers indicate that it is leaking from excessive blow by? Thank you for any help!
Thanks for the quick response! Does it make sense that the low compression is causing the oil leak from in my distributor? I kinda thought it would need even lower compression for enough blow by to create a leak in the distributor. Either way I’m gonna pull the motor and go over it thoroughly.
It’s not leaking from the base and has a new gasket there installed with the new distributor less than a year ago. It’s out of the little hole for excess oil to drip out but is leaking a lot even when I tried 2 new distributors
