What lessons learned did Jeep incorporate on each generation going forward from the TJ?

I had a Gremlin in 79 on a CJ chassis. It was a fun cool toy. That was back when everyone was putting cars on 4x4 chassis.

This just hit me- an off road Gremlin…. look goofy in more places with that rig.

One of my favorites back in the 80's was a 72 Caprice wagon on a K-20 chassis with 15-38 monster mudders and an easy 12 -14" of lift. They cut the front axle tubes and rotated the knuckles to get caster while the front diff was pointed at the 205 TC . It was cool in that homemade 80's way ! I wish I had a photo !

You know, if you look around you will run into some pretty amazing people…even here in the south.

I knew a farm boy who put a 327 in an early S-10 truck….way before the 4.3, etc. he had to lift the body so he ran side pipes on each side. Had a 3 speed I think. He would eat young punks alive in it on the street. They never knew what happened.

I’ve seen some pretty rough characters created some wild rigs.

Dump the FUCKING ELECTRONICS! And adopt a manual transmission similar to the Bronco's.

Idk, i would take a zf hp8 over any manual.

Today's thought .
They spent money to change the steering linkage from the TJ Y style to the JK/JL T style . If the TJ Y style is the greatest thing since sliced bread why the change ?
Ram ( Dodge ) trucks also changed to the T style after about 08 . Why ? , there has to be a reason , ( good or bad ) to spend money to change it.

Chrysler being Chrysler, the new style was probably 12 cents less to produce.

I built this before I got into jeeps, 85 S10 on a full size Blazer frame. Cut the long bed down to make the body match the wheelbase. 1 ton driveline, sm 465, np205. 42" IROKS 350 SBC.

the kids never would wash it when they brought it back.

Exploding MTs have been fun to hear about for the whole JL run. Nothing like a recall to detune the 3.6 so the clutch doesn't grenade itself.
