Swap ashtray for compass?

Has anyone done this? I don't need any more switches, and the ashtray is just taking up space. I like these (see pics). I have the spare switch panel.
If I install it flush I think it will point too far down, but I think it will look sloppy sticking out. Anyone have any photos of anything similar, or any ideas? I would like it to look nicely finished.

I'd contact https://www.custom3dfab.com/

They do custom work to their TJ switch panels. Just give them the OD of the compass and you could trade a few switch positions for the compass.

Those are useful, they just remind me of my grandfather. I also wonder what it would look like in the switch panel and how useful it would be looking down at that angle. I know my transmission temp gauge is mounted there and it’s not very useful if you don’t have the analog lines memorized.

Only benefit to being short; it might be easier for me to see it, LOL. But I am a little concerned about the angle, that's why I was hoping someone else would have a picture.
